About Me

About Etu Etu was born in Senegal, West Africa. His interest in music was first noticed by his brother Ely who early introduced him to jazz and all its great players. He started playing the electric Guitar. He later on picked up the electric bass after listening to bassist Habib Faye. After a year of playing bass, he decided to form his own band “Korus” an Afro-beat project. There, he improved his song writing and arranging skills. And soon joined female singer Kine Lam and her band the “Kaggu” orchestra for a world tour at age 18. He recorded six albums with the band while featuring on other projects. Then he started a long music journey playing with some of the most famous and talented musicians in West Africa including world famous: Ismael Lo, Youssou Ndour, Madou Diabate, Baba Maal, Coumba Gawlo,Omar Pene, Mapenda Seck, Thione Seck Makhou Lebbou and many more. Now based in the United States. He features in Fusion band PMB’s “Many Designs” album released recently and plays with a wide variety of local DC bands.
