Cahit Kutrafali , Cypriot Bass Player was born in Nicosia in 1984.Started musical education with taking piano lessons at the age of eight but after two years he gave up playing piano.After completing primary school he met with guitar at the age of twelve with the helps of his classmates,after few years he realized that started to spent most of his time with guitar and music and then high school days started with new expriences such as forming a music band.In his first year in the high school (1999)he became the guitar player of Turkish Maarif College’s music band and won prizes in the competitons.In 2000 the bass player of the band graduated from the school and a new bass player was needed for the band so he switched to the bass and he realized that guitar and piano are not the insturments that he really wants to play and he felt that bass is what he needs to express his feelings.In 2000 and 2001 he performed as a bass player at high school music band and they got the first rank in the competitions.Music and bass became his life and only beloved,after finishing the high school in Nicosia he passed through to Famagusta to study music as a major at the Eastern Mediterranean University Music Department where he studied cello with Nicolas Deletaille and took some private Double Bass lessons from the instructor Thomas Svatos.He played two years in E.M.U.’s Chamber Music Orchestra as a cellist and double-bass player. Graduated from E.M.U Music Department in February of 2007 and got his Bachelor Degree of Music.After graduation started to study Jazz harmony with the most well-known saxophone player of Cyprus;Charis Iaonnou.Between 2001 – 2006 he played with many musicians and artists from Cyprus and Turkey,played bass for many albums in Cyprus,toured around the island with Dream Strat Guitar Artist Asim Can Gunduz,performed in many local and international festivals such as International Kypro Festival 2006, 14th International Famagusta Art and Culture Festival 2007,Europalia 2007 Belgium.He is still member of four different music bands like;Sensitive Vibrations (R&B ,Funk) - Kyprogenia(Traditional) – Blue Project (Latin,Reggae) ,Jazz Quartet (Jazz).He had opportunity to share the same stage with Ersen Sururi,Okan Ersan,Chris Byars,Ari Roland,Charis Iaonnou, JOHN MOSCA ,Larkos Larkou,Asim Can Gunduz and many great musicians such as Fuat Kutrafali,Tolga Erzurumlu,Buray Hossoz,Erkan Erzurumlu,Ahmet Elmas and Kadir Evre where he influenced from all of them.
