"Honour simplicity, respect the flow"

About Me

Originally from Spain, I came to England in the summer of 1996 and what was going to be 3 months to study the English language ended up as 11 years and still counting!. A bit of a late starter, I picked up the guitar when 22 years old, and later, while living in England I undertook BTEC and HND courses in popular music whilst falling in love with the bass. I concentrated fully on this instrument soon after joining "The Huckleberries" in the summer of 2003, and a couple of years later I started learning the double bass. In addition to my work with "The Huckleberries", I am involved or collaborating in different projects (The Portrait Trio, Speak no Evil, Chris Rand Fusion Quartet, Subb Zero, Bossa Inmensa, Ally Brown Quartet, Soul Survivors) and I also teach bass, music theory and play gigs as a freelancer in the Bournemouth area. I am constantly learning about as many styles of music as I can, but I focus particularly on improvised music and anything with a strong groove: Funk, Afro-cuban, Brazilian music, Soul, Hip-Hop, Reggae, African rhythms and Jazz. Other interests apart from music include Eastern and Western philosophy, Psychology, Integral theory, travelling and the martial arts. I hope you enjoy the music, it's a selection of my work with other people, I am planning to upload my own compositions very soon, so watch this space if you are interested. If you want to contact me for lessons or gigs feel free to email me at: [email protected]
