About Me

On February 9th. 1964, I saw something on TV that changed me forever. If I have to tell you what it was, stop reading this now! Ok ,.fast forward to 1973 where a local band called MUGSY is starting to make some serious noise around Southeast Michigan. Surrounded by our local heroes such as the MC5, Stooges, Amboy Dukes ,and Brownsville Station,( all of which to my un-known delight I would eventually meet and even perform with) we commenced on our journey to play some of the loudest , bad-ass rock and roll this side of I-94. Now, things change, in 1980 MUGSY evolved into a brief but eventful outing know as CUB KODA and the POINTS. That lasted 2 years and we spit out 1 album, CUB KODA and the POINTS, and an EP called SHAKE YO' CAKES on Baron Records. CUB was a musical mentor and a great friend. Before his passing we re-united for one last time in 2000 and released NOISE MONKEYS on J-Bird Records. In 1982 MUGSY reformed and by 1985 had turned into yet another incarnation called WEAPONS. WEAPONS released two albums, CAPTIVE AUDIENCE and SECOND THOUGHTS.

Fed up with the big-hair-pointy guitar nonsense, I left the whole thing behind ,got married to my rock-goddess Margie, and took a few years off to breathe. I formed AZ.U.R (pronounced: as-you-are) late in the eighties and we put out my favorite CD, ROCK LIKE PIGZ. Simultaneously I recorded a CD with ROB TYNER (lead singer-MC5) called BLOOD BROTHERS. I was truly honored to have worked with ROB. I then took an off ramp into blues-ville and released a nice little CD called GUITAR JOEY and the BEST. Ok ,..super-fast forward to 2003 and my son, JOEY GAYDOS JR., is starring in the movie SCHOOL OF ROCK. Needless to say things got a bit hectic and I gladly put my musical adventures on hold for awhile. Well it's now 2006, and my son has his own bad-ass group making some serious noise heard all over and beyond I-94. So where did I leave off? Ok,.. in 2002 I had the pleasure of recording some solo guitar tracks for a great local singer/songwriter NICK PIUNTI, who was releasing his debut CD. In 2005, NICK, drummer DONN DENISTON, bassist PETE BANKERT, and myself formed THE RESPECTABLES, and released our self titled CD.

Now I find myself working with some past peers in a litttle band we call SEND MORE COPS. Check it out, some pretty badass rock we be throwin' down.
Well,.....whaddaya waiting for? I said go check it out!!!
