About Me

Jimmy Edwards; guitarist vocalist songwriter, played in a gazillion bands, some large , some small, some all original, and lots of typical midwest cover bands. I've had the pleasure of sharing stage time with nationally known artists such as Dez Dickerson, formerly with Prince, Phil Solem of the Rembrandts, and Bruce Naumann, lead vocalist of Hericane Alice, and a number of top local Mpls. area players and showmen like Frank Kohler, Kujay, Dave Olinger, Michael Velasquez, Mark Albrecht, Billy Larson, and a whole bunch more. In addition to all that, I did an extensive, writing and home demo project a few years back which featured my buddies and former bandmates, Gene Hommes, Johnny Kurkoski, and Chuck Edwards.(Sorry to anyone I'm missin' I'm new at this). Never got to finish the album, due to time and family conflicts, but I'm back and planning on a return to the ranks as soon as I can solidify a good lineup. Also working on a rehearsal/recording studio venture with a couple of other geezers; (thanks Frank & Bruce); stay tuned for details and availability for that space. Love indie-modern rock, glam, punk, blues and rockabilly. Anyone from the Mpls or Southwest US band scene that I played with or hung out with, please contact me, send pix, songs, etc,,, I'd love to hear from you, Thanks to my wife and sons for putting up with all the noise and commotion, couldn't have done any of it without ya!! See ya, JE

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: This is it!!!
Band Members: Most recently played with Mpls indie-rock sensations Shotgun Delilah, be sure and check their Myspace page and that of Tyler Jakes, who is the lead singer and songwriter. Got a whole bunch of songs I wrote during my lengthy absence that I want to record and play out, it feels good to be playin' again, I've missed it!!!
Influences: Started out with all the standard guitar-god guys like Hendrix, Beck and Page, added a generous helping of old blues masters, added some glam-rock, like Mott, Bowie, Iggy and the Dolls and some Rick Nielsen style goofiness and here I am. Started my pro career with Mpls bar band Grand Slam where I met a lot of my long time friends and stuff and started writin' songs, subsequently played in Az based regional band Visitor, with whom I recorded an album with English producer John Rollo of Kinks and Joe Cocker fame (among others). When that ran out of steam, came back and rejoined the Mpls music scene, since then played in a succession of local groups, with a long line of great players of all types and genres, as well as writing a couple of albums worth of original material.
Sounds Like: Current material is kinda Stonesy, Black Crowes,funk-blues kinda stuff, but I'm I feel a return to a more hard-edged style is right around the corner. I always have loved old school blues and r&b , but I also just bust a nut over good hard rock and alt rock stuff, if only I could live for 300 years and do it all,,,,H,mmmmm; good taste or guitar smashin' nut case, just can't make up my mind, maybe later...
Record Label: Don't got no steenkin' label!!
Type of Label: Indie
