CHOMPIN ON THE BIT
In the words of swamp man, Alligator Jackson, (Indie Awards The Gatys) , we're all "chompin on the bit" to own Gary Jeffries long-anticipated, all new, Southern-swamp-rock CD. Idle up Americans and international fans, 'cause its gonna bust on the scene in 2008, riding wild and free on earth-bitten dusty roads, ripped from Gary's heart and soul - real music that captures the passion of real livin'.
Great albums, like the musical treasures of the past, are notably best born when they're good and ready. And, that hard-edged, non-compromising, Southern rocker, Gary Jeffries, ain't gonna give you nothin' but his best. He'll punch this one in on Indian Time.
Keep chompin'!

BIOGRAPHY
GARY JEFFRIES~ is one of the true Southern rockin' outlaw rebels. Gary believes in true artistic freedom and is a great example of a musician that stays true to his real colors. Jeffries has been playing southern rock music since the 70's, when Lynyrd Skynyrd came on the scene. Gary has always been a true fan of the late, Ronnie Van Zant, original singer and songwriter for Lynyrd Skynyrd. Gary was addicted to music right after The Beatles came out - that momentous day when they hit the stage on the Ed Sullivan Show. He started pickin' the guitar at the ripe young age of 11. By the time he was 14, he was playing the 4-H fairs and local school talent shows. He was probably the only 14 year-old playing in top 40 clubs and going to school. Jeffries recalls, "I remember having to sit on the stage when my band played because I was too young to go into the audience. I remember these topless go-go dancers in front of the band stand. I would tell all my freshmen buddies about my night in the club. I usually played Wednesday thru Saturday night. I knew then that I was gonna be a rock star." (continued...)

BIO cont... Here's what happened next. According to Jeffries...
"Upon graduating from high school I started playin' in a top 40 cover band called H.O. Brown. It was a 5 piece band that rocked. We did top 40 radio tunes and some originals. We played 4 to 6 nights a week all over the midwest. The band started workin' hard on original music. H.O. Brown got an offer to go to Macon, Georgia, when southern rock was becoming popular. A few of the members didn't want to take the chance. But myself, I wanted to go and just realized that my band didn't have the same desires that I did. I left the band and ended up in Monroe, Louisiana. I fell in love with the swamps and bottleneck slide players... I loved the Louisiana vibe. I loved the music in Louisiana. The darkness, the swamps, the gators.

BIO cont... In the early 80's, a management company informed me about an audition with the popular group Quiot Riot in Los Angeles, California. I took off for L.A. I did the auditions, BUT didn't get the job... I stayed in L.A. playin the Sunset Strip, doin' all original music. Played The Whiskey, Gazzarizz, The Roxy, The Troubadour, ... I was meetin the record people now. In 1989 I was referred to a band needing a vocalist called Asphalt Ballet , kinda a Gun and Roses type band. Very good group. Asphalt Ballet was hitting all the major clubs and building a really huge following. We were asked to play Star Search and shortly thereafter, Virgin Records began liking the group. In 1990, we were signed to Virgin Records. We recorded a fantastic CD of great songs. We had 3 videos on MTV. We went on the MTV Wall of Fame for the most wins on Headbanger's Ballwith Riki Ractman. Our video, Soul Survive, beat groups like Tesla, The Cult, Corrosion Of Informity, Infectious Grooves, and more. This was a show where MTV fans voted for their favorite of 2 videos. (continued...)

BIO cont... By 1992, Grunge was becoming popular. Nirvana released Teen Spirit. Pearl Jam was out. Now Virgin wanted Asphalt to be more grunge. I wasn't willing to change to a grunge singer, so I left due to not willing to change and responsibilities at home. I met a group in Monroe, Louisiana, called CoupDeVille and we recorded a CD, which is on www.cdbaby.com. Soon after the group disbanded, I left for L.A. to record with a southern rock band called The Regulators. This was a great group, but my heart wasn't into it. Danny Clarke (lead guitarist-Asphalt Ballet) and I got back together, wrote and recorded, but never released a few songs for our short lived band, Dead Horse.
I decided I wanted to form my own southern rock band. It soon became Alligator Stew. This was a group that I'd always imagined having. Great players, great people, and true Southern Rock at its finest. We did 2 CDs and a video (Blood Money) that got major play on Great American Country TV (GAC). Blood Money received the Best Video of the Year Award by All Access Magazine in 2006. (continued...)
BIO cont... In 2003, my father became sick in Indiana and I moved my family to the midwest to be near him. I tried to keep Alligator Stew goin', but it was almost impossible living this far away. So with this musical addiction I have, I had to play more, so I recently formed a new band here in town (Dayton, OH), The Gary Jeffries Band. Good greasy southern rock. Love playin' that music! Peace! Gary"
