www.rednetic.com www.smallfish.co.uk www.n5md.com 'Another fine release from London-based Rednetic comes from Sunosis and it's a beautiful example of exactly how to do warm, sunny, timeless Electronica. Depth, beauty and an overriding musicality are the key features here and whilst the tracks are skillfully arranged and produced, they never feel forced or deliberate... on the contrary, there's a free-flowing, easy-going sound on offer here that will soothe and enchant the listener. A clever mix of digital, crunch / click rhythmic elements and beats underpin the softly understated chord progressions and then we're treated to a classic UK melodic sound which rides the rest of the music. Essentially this is a CD of some substance and fans of labels such as Cactus Island, Expanding and the other Rednetic material are going to find an awful lot to enjoy here. My opinion? Superb." smallfish
"Sunosis offers beguiling and well-crafted electronica which will have fans of Minotaur Shock and Four Tet beaming with joy.........a warm brand of acid-tinged electronica which makes for a compelling horizontal listening experience." tunetribe.com
"Delicate, smooth and proper electronic magic for the ears and heart." Igloo Magazine

Sunosis's (Colin Welsh) musical career started at the tender age of 14, when he would engage in such anti-social behaviour as re-programming his elder brother's ZX Spectrum into a primitive sequencer. Such wayward conduct would eventually lead to a degree in fine art and the onset of much more audio-visual mischief, including experiments involving 100 crickets and a 20k sound system, a film examining the effects of sub bass on talcum powder, and a quite frankly bizarre project involving 500 pairs of earphones. A musical maverick, Col naturally progressed into club décor and visuals, eventually organising his own series of techno nights in the Midlands. He now co-owns Ginglik, west London's premier suburban beat bunker, which is rapidly establishing a reputation as one of the finest alternative venues in the capital. Fusing some of the city's premier electronic and underground DJs and musicians with exhibitions, video installations, photography, digital art, sculpture and even martial arts, with a friendly, pretension-free atmosphere; the club has become a focal point for artists, musicians and general connoisseurs of cool, with regular events hosted by Col's own Sonosis project as well as a host of other rising pioneers. www.ginglik.co.uk Ever the perfectionist, Col has been biding his time until he feels his material is ready for the masses (or should that be the other way round?). It has been well worth the wait: Crunching, hissing, fragmented beats form the base of the tracks, upon which he layers slithery, crisp melodies and burbling acid washes. The exterior of his work seems calm, non-threatening, yet there is a darker undertow just beneath the surface. Listening to such chilly, glacial soundscapes reminds you of artists such as Juan Atkins and Derrick May, with a splash of early Photek and an extra ingredient that is entirely his own.
