About Me

www.arielcybana.com
MyGen Profile GeneratorFirstly, I do not use Myspace to look for dates, hookups, etc. I use it as means to keep in touch with people I know or have known and meet some new people along the way. Yes I had to get that out of the way but I am always happy to add friends and meet people on a platonic level. :)
A few notations:
- "Single" does NOT mean looking. I'd only change my status here if I am married. As far as that sort of stuff goes, it's my business. There are 300+ million myspace profiles to choose from besides mine!
- DO NOT ADD ME IF YOUR INTENTION IS TO PROMOTE OR ADVERTISE IN MY COMMENTS SECTION. I have comment approval and anything that is promotional or advertising doesn't get approved hence won't show up here. I've already deleted a bunch of people for making repeated attempts to try to use my comments section to promote their $hit. It's disrespectful and I find it offensive you come into MYspace to promote YOUR $hit. I don't see any of you @ssholes offering to pay my rent, bills or give me gigs so I can pay my rent and bills. To those who attempt to sell their $hit using my comments will be marked as "spam". I do log all who attempt to promote in my comments and repeat offenders will get deleted and blocked. These days the only notice one will get is here as I will not bother emailing you privately to knock it off.
- I DONT USE MYSPACE IM!!!! (and I hardly use internet chat either)
- I am NOT interested in posing in scantily clad photos posting a sign to endorse your band, website, etc. What the hell do I get out of it other than looking dumb?
Sign my mappy!!
I've been to a lot more places yet it'll take some time for me to add them all in!
WANT SOME DJ MIXSETS FROM ME?
- be my friend on Myspace!!

Now for the spew...

Been on this friggin Myspace thing for a while now and it's been a lovely ride overall. Met a lot of cool cats yet some creepos and weirdos too but that happens in my real life as well!
ME as a music person:
I'm a DJ, vocalist, track editor, aspiring producer and so forth. In the past I've been a former reviewer for 365 Mag (formerly Xpander.nl), an A&R for Eccentric Beats (which later became Mercury Sessions) as well as a judge for a couple of DJ/remixer contests. I'm one of the few female artists in this biz who is self taught in DJing and NEVER had a man to elevate my career. Also I have never resorted to kissing ass nor compromised my morals to get ahead either. For those who slag me on message boards, I thank you for the free press and please refer them to this page as well as to my website! :)
The style of music I play usually is in the progressive house and tribal house sort of realm. Occasionally I'll do a progressive breaks set or I'll step out of the box and make a mix of downtempo or whatever. Hell I did a few DJ mixes of music from the Final Fantasy video game series! I'm planning to do a tech house set someday. As for playing out, I just stick to what I would dance to myself. After all most people when they go out are there to have fun!
Since June of 2003 I have hosted an internet radio show called Provocative. It started at Eccentric Beats for the first two years on a weekly basis before I moved it to Digitally Imported's Progressive channel. The first broadcast on di.fm had received over 800 listeners. In March 2007 I've added more hosting homes for Provocative and it is now hosted at Danceradio.gr, Tribal Mixes and House Pacifique. Provocative now airs on a monthly basis with a listenership well into the 1000's. Some of my past guests include Desyn Masiello, Austin Leeds, Mark Lewis, Scott Bradford (of Lexicon Avenue) and many more. Some of my guests are not the most known yet have mad talent to some world renowned talent. These days I only go for guests who I have high confidence in be it their production work or their mixing dazzles me. One little note I should make is I am not looking to fill guest spots for my show at this time (so please don't solicit yourself).
With my music career, I've had my share of ups and downs. One of the biggest blessings is to have traveled and headlined in several countries around the world. I've been to Germany, Peru, Malaysia, Portugal, China and more to come. Did some vocal work on a few tracks that have been played by many of the top DJ's in the world. I am currently working on more vocals right now for some kickass producers so stay tuned. Plus I'm editing tracks and I must say I don't hate Ableton anymore.
With my downs, I've had more downs than ups in the past two years. At times things got so bad I thought about quitting altogether but somehow I persevered. Well moving to LA helped me stay in the game. Been needing to start over and it's really been starting over for me. I'll have to give it at least a couple of years to see how things turn out.
In the future I will have music with my vocals as well as my original tracks and edits on this profile. Not gonna change this into a music Myspace profile but rather keep it the way it is nor do I plan to make another profile for music.
Here is the banner for my show:
It'll be updated as an animated gif showing all the hosts of Provocative and subsequently redesigned.
ME as a person:
I'm just someone who quite frankly is married to EDM music and specifically the music I play out. Ever since I was a kid I loved synth pop and disco music if that's any indication. My lifelong dream is to be in the music business and to some degree I have been living it. My attitude in life is that it's better to regret what you've done than to regret what you haven't done. I just relocated to LA from my lifelong home in Norcal and let's say it's a big change for me. I do love it here and I feel this place will be my home for a while.
My best friend in the world is my cat Neko. He's 2 years old and so damn sweet and gorgeous. Like me, he digs house music too and whenever I play on my DJ setup he'll always have to get up on there. He is my baby and you bet I would choose my cat and music over a guy anytime. Anyway the left side of this profile will give you an idea of what kinds of entertainment I like. As for my personal traits, I'm kind yet I can be quite fiesty and moody. I'm also been described as a funny person though don't expect me to be on the standup circuit anytime soon. I'll leave it to the pros and to those who I like such as George Carlin, Dave Chappelle, Eddie Murphy and so forth.
I'll add more as I go along but this is what I come up with for now. :)
I am grateful to all who request to be my friend on here and to those who accept my friend requests. I'm always happy to hear from you yet please understand I may not have the time to reply to you as promptly as I would like. If you wish to drop me, that is fine yet keep in mind only my friends and my messageboard members get access to my mixsets.

REGARDING COMMENTS:
- HTML is disabled here! It'll just show up as HTML text on this page. I just like good old fashioned text for my comments.

- Sudoku

I'm over:
- fake people
- kissass types
- elitists
- flakes
- spammers
- amoral scumbag promoters (namely a certain one in LA who has a weekly)
- ignorant people
- political correctness
- stupid come on's
- wasteful people
- those who lack common sense
- whore trains
- whiny liberals

Play some Sudoku: ..
Myspace Games provided by Profile Web Games

I've taught several people how to play this game and the rules are easy. All's you gotta do is put numbers 1-9 within the box of 3x3 w/o duplicating any of the numbers. The catch of this game is making sure the numbers 1-9 do not duplicate in the rows and columns as well as in the smaller box of 3x3. Of course it's easier if I showed you in person how to play but this is the next best thing.

I'd like to meet:

cool cats who like to live life to the fullest! That and NON shady promoters who want to book me as well as those who like to put me on their promo list (namely progressive house and tribal house).

Music:

EDM:
Aside from myself, I dig progressive house, tribal house, progressive breaks, tech house, minimal, techno, and a little bit of trance and mellow EDM at times. As a DJ I am inspired by anything I see and hear no matter how relevant or irrelevant it is to what I do.

Modern Rock, 80's, Industrial:
Depeche Mode, Nitzer Ebb, Red Flag, Front 242, New Order, Love and Rockets, Bauhaus, Peter Murphy, Joy Division, The Smiths, Morrissey, The Cure. Duran Duran, Mysterious Art, Celebrate the Nun, Peter Schilling, Cause and Effect, Sandra (the one who is married to Michael Cretu from Enigma), Siouxsie and the Banshees, Gene Loves Jezebel, Erasure, Nine Inch Nails, Moby (up to mid 90's), Ministry, Skinny Puppy, Front Line Assembly, Razormaid remixes from the 80's to early 90's

Others
I confess I listen to a bit of hip hop and classic rock. David Bowie (70's to 80's). Bryan Ferry, Roxy Music, Rolling Stones, Madonna (up to early 90's), Eminem, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, Ludacris

Although I am specific about what I play and listen to, I do respect those who share the passion for what they play and create. Frankly there's way too many names!!!

Here are some of the more notable gigs I have played over the years:

Movies:

Comedies, drama, action, thrillers, anime and old movies. I don't really have a favorite actor or director but I like movies with Gene Hackman, Tom Hanks, Michael Douglas, Angelina Jolie (didn't like the Tomb Raider movies) or Jodie Foster in it. I'll admit I don't watch nearly as many movies as I used to. Some movies I like include Tommy Boy, South Park, American Beauty, Pulp Fiction, American Pie (1 and 2), Death Wish, North By Northwest, Some Like It Hot, Police Academy, both Shrek movies, Van Wilder, Revenge of the Nerds and so forth

Television:

South Park, Chappelle's Show, Sopranos, Forensic Files, Judge Judy, Cold Case Files, The Investigators, American Justice, Power Privilege and Justice, Trace Evidence, North Mission Road, Family Guy, Lou Dobbs, Sell This House (you boys would love to see Tanya Memme, hehe) and one of my new favorite shows Web Junk 20!! Networks I am partial to are Court TV and History Channel. I love learning and am so fascinated by history and crime. Overall I prefer to watch factual TV and learn something.

My current guilty pleasure shows are Charm School and I Love New York... can't wait for I Love New York 2 to come out. Wasn't into Flavor of Love but I love their spinoff shows!

Books:

Haven't read a book cover to cover in many years. Used to love to read books as a child yet being forced to read books back in school killed it for me. I prefer to read magazines cause they are short and sweet though the last book I bought was by Jenna Jameson. It's a good read but I only read parts of it so far. If I am to read a book, it's gotta be non-fiction like a biography.

Heroes:

If you'd rather kick someone's ass instead of kissing it, I respect you automatically. If you are yourself and stand up to adversity as a result, I respect you too. I'll be honest and say there aren't really any heroes I look up to in EDM and instead see them as colleagues. Specifically I look up to Judge Judy, Dr Phil, Eminem, Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Fictitious wise Tony Soprano rules! That guy is the MAN!! We can learn from him for real! Don't be afraid to be yourself and stand up to your morals and beliefs!
