Benbecula venture South over Hadrian's Wall once more to bring one of the most wonderfully written and melodic pieces of electronica to grace these shores. Ochre aka Christopher Leary, first came to the public's attention via his album for Toytronic in 2004 entitled A Midsummer Nice Dream. During that time and up until autumn 2005, he has offered a steady output of remix work and compilation appearances via the likes of Subvariant, Boltfish, Audiobulb, Igloo and Unschooled.
Where the Toytronic album was a 'best of' collection of older recordings spanning a couple of years, the album Lemodie for Benbecula, is an especially commissioned body of work.
Ochre's take on the electronic format takes the medium to its melodic limit, with an orchestral feel and precision that would challenge the best contemporary traditional composers.
Benbecula once again embraces the advance of music within a medium. Rather than pushing the noise envelope via the technology available, Ochre expertly demonstrates that the most complex of compositions can be realised in a human and organic way via technology, possibly more than anyone before him.

Apart from residual stock floating about in the odd retailer's inventory, Lemodie has now completely sold out. If you can track down a copy, and have yet to secure one, then act quickly! I'd like to thank everyone who bought a physical copy, reaffirming my faith in music lovers and quelling my fears about the humble CD format. Obviously, if you'd happily make do with an mp3 edition, then there is still plenty of mp3 stock available. ;) On the other hand, if you're at a complete loss and unable to track down any more physical copies, then sit tight and cross your fingers for a repress.
