"There is something immediately striking about grifter, originally from Bournemouth but currently residing in London. Three songs make up the demo, all of which display different sides to grifters sound.
'Debut' opens as a middish-temp rock track, before lifting off for the chorus, where the band harmonsie to great effect. The overall sounds comes across as an edgier version of Feeder, drawing parallels with the band's earlier work.
'Sunshine starts off more gently - with a slightly funkier bassline - and has a contented feel to it. The same certainly cannot be said for 'Breathe', the final and best track on this demo. Dark, brooding, with a hushed and confessional vocal, the spidery guitar motif acts as the calm before the storm of the chorus, which conjours haunting feelings of claustrophobia.
