About Me

The Riptide , the best little honky-tonk by the sea, built in 1941, has the look and feel of a small town lodge and is labeled as San Francisco's Tahoe by the Sea. In addition to rustic brick flooring and high ceilings, the original knotty pine walls and raging fireplace add warmth you can feel as soon as you step inside.

The Riptide is open daily from 4 p.m. till 2 a.m. If you're looking for a casual atmosphere and a conversation or two with the locals, stop by for Happy Hour from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. featuring honest drink specials.

At night, you might come across live bluegrass, jazz, blues, solo acoustic, piano, country music and Barroom Baroque. If you like to dance or just rock out, we have DJ's spinning soul, old school, punk, metal, and ska. Check the CALENDAR for events or just wander in anytime.

The Riptide boasts of having the best damn bar staff in the Bay Area, voted Best Fireplace, and Jukebox. Also, it's home to some of the best live roots, bluegrass, country and folk music.

Only 15 minutes from the heart of San Francisco, one block away from the Pacific Ocean, close to public transportation and there's plenty of free parking.

Smokers, check out the outdoor smoking lounge with ocean view. Just watch out for the L-Taraval...

Voted Best Oceanside Dive by The SF Weekly also check BLUEGRASS BUDDIES by Justin Farrar.
