About Me

This genre spanning 3-piece only got together in February (2006), yet they’re now a popular fixture on Edinburgh’s music scene and blowing punters away with impressive tunes and even more impressive performances.
Their line-up consists of Jack Sandison, 21 (bass/lead vocals), Arthur Nicholson, 22 (guitar/backing vocals) and Catherine Myers, 22 (drums/backing vocals). Jack and Arthur – who have known each other since their early teens, are both from the Shetland Islands whilst Catherine is from County Durham.
Combining edgy and eclectic musical styles with pop sensibility and boundless energy, there’s something here for any fan of alternative rock music being played well.
Influences spread far and wide within L.G.M. Arthur and Cat take their lead from the Grunge greats while Jack welds on a layer of indie idolatry for a critical bitter edge.
With songs ranging from the reflective to the explosive, Jack’s lyrics evolve in a “Dylan-esque” manner. From the abstractness of Excuse Me Sir (“Each grain of sand is a world in your hand”), to social commentary on Take the Money and Run (“Perfect smile, healthy glow, Hollywood is teaching our children to grow”).
The band recently released their 8-song debut E.P. which was recorded, mixed and produced by the band themselves.
First and foremost though, Little Green Machine are a band who are at their best onstage and need to be seen live. Refusing to compromise their gritty rock sound, the band prefers to enthral their audiences with highly charged live performances. With a mixture of enthusiasm and technical ability, their shows have even been described amongst other things by fans as, “musically arousing”.
Don’t believe it? Come and see for yourself!

The EP is on sale now in Avalanche (Edinburgh) or at any of their shows.
