The band was formed in 1994 by Stefano B (guitar) and Marco (vocals), with their friends Stefano M (bass), Davide (drums) and later Federico (guitar). Marco suggested the name PRODUCT.
In the beginning the band had some problems practicing. All band members were from different North Italian towns and the long distances caused many problems. Without a lot of practice it would play locally and in Austria, often with AGEIN.
In '96 Product recorded the song SUSTAIN for a compilation that never came out. Federico left the band and Paolo B took his place. In June of the same year Marco, because of his job, couldn't make it for a show in Switzerland, so Dan, an old friend, was asked to play the show.
Later on Davide quit the band and after a short period out of the scene, Chris (from Switzerland) joined the band. With these changes, the band began to practice more regularly and in a few months several ideas became songs.
This lineup played a lot of shows until late '97, when it was decided to record six songs for a 7", but those recordings weren't as good as expected.
Later Marco decided to leave the band. Dan, was the substitute, and in February '98 the band re-recorded four songs with different arrangements for the 7" and a cover for a compilation (a tribute to Agnostic Front), at TMB ROCKHOUSE in Modena, Italy. A couple of months later the 7" came out from two Italian labels, GREEN REC and TWILIGHT REC; the chosen title was DEDICATION.
In the summer of 1998, after some shows in Italy and in Switzerland, Product was invited by their good friend 'Uncle' Igby to play some shows in Southern California. With borrowed equipment and the gracious help of the local band LIFES HALT, quality shows were played at Public Storage (with SPEAK 714, NERVE AGENTS and JUSTICE), in Anaheim, and at the PCH Club (Pacific Coast Hardcore Fest), in Wilmington.
Before leaving California, the band recorded three new songs (plus an Intro) at RUSTY'S, in Long Beach. A 7", WATCH YOUR STEP, came out (only in March of the following year) on GENET REC, which is an important European Hardcore label. In the meantime the tribute compilation was not released, so on this 7", there is also the cover FRIEND OR FOE.
In October '98 Product played a very good show in Padova, during the Green Rec Festival and, after several shows in South Switzerland, the band took part in the New Year's Eve Hardcore Fest, organized in Belgium by GOODLIFE REC as the first date of the mini-tour in Belgium; due to work problems, Federico played guitar instead of Stefano B. During this tour the band was invited to play EYEBALL's final show in Germany.
Back in Italy, in the first few months of 1999, Product played several good shows, often with LAST MAN STANDING and FRATELLANZA, but also with BETTER THAN 1000 and, in Switzerland, with FLOORPUNCH.
In early June, three new songs were recorded for two new compilations at ALPHA-OMEGA, in Como; the result has been collected in the promo-tape MY FRIENDS (in few copies given only to friends). A week later the band played with GOOD CLEAN FUN. At this show, Stefano B decided it would be his last with Product. After that Sacha (from Switzerland) joined the band.
In August, during their vacation in So. Cal., Paolo B and Stefano M played a show in NO REPLY (at Showcase Theater in Corona) and later, back in Europe, Product played at Vort'n Vis Fest in Ieper, Belgium.
Then the band had been busy and played few shows, one of these with FASTBREAK, in Treviso, and in February 2K, three concerts with GOOD CLEAN FUN (in Firenze, Milano and the great show in Vicenza). Later on, in June it was back to Vicenza to play a big event: Product played the song SUSTAIN, after years, with Marco on vocals and Federico on guitar! And a couple of days later, another very well played concert in Rimini, with MADBALL.
In August of 2000 GREEN REC put out a new 7" titled NOT AN ANSWER (containing the same MY FRIENDS tape songs) and the band had the second tour in California, a really awesome tour, especially at the PCH Club in Wilmington, at Jerry's Pizza in Bakersfield and at Headline in Hollywood; playing with bands like NO REPLY (unfortunately at their last show ever), LIFES HALT, NO JUSTICE, IN CONTROL, SHOW OF HANDS, and many more. During this tour, Sacha quit the band.
In March 2001, after several shows with a lot of Italian bands, the band recorded a full-length at NORTH BEACH STUDIOS, in Milano. Soon after this recordings, Chris made the choice to leave Product. Paolo G (drums) and Simone (guitar) entered the band.
Finally, in late autumn, HEAD ON REC (ex Cane Rec) released the long-playing NOTHING HAS CHANGED. And in December Product did a tour in Germany, where they played some cool shows, unforgettable the one at Jugendhaus Ups, in Senftenberg (with the local bands DAYBREAK, RADICAL ADDRESS and SWITCH STANCE), and the one at Buntes Haus, in Forst (with FRAMERS BLVD, DRAW THE LINE and the american CRISPUS ATTUCKS).
In 2002, Product has been a bit far from the scenes, due to some members engagements, but in August the band played a great show at Fluff Fest in Pilsen, Czech Rep. In Autumn Paolo G left the band. Finally in Spring 2003, Stefano R entered the band as a new drummer, so Product started to play again.
The band broke up in late 2003.
