About Me

I was born in Narbonne in France but was educated in Milan. In 283, I entered the army at Rome under Emperor Carinus to assist the martyrs. Because of my courage, I became one of the captains of the Praetorian Guards. I had prudently concealed my faith, but in 286 was detected and accused before Diocletian, who condemned me to be shoot to death with arrows. The sentence was carried out by certain archers of Mauritania, who left me for dead. However, I was restored to health by care of Irene, whom I know a good Christian widow. I boldly appeared before the emperor and I reproached him for his injustice against the Christians. The emperor had me beaten to death with clubs and thrown into a sewer. That was awesome by the way! My body was later removed by a pious lady called Lucina and had me buried in the catacombs along the Appian Way, where now stands my Basilica. /style
