Live the Life U Love...Love the Life U Live

About Me

HERATIO’s sound is a unique blend of rich soul, gritty funk and Jazz, mixed with such influences as Prince, Marvin Gaye and Al Green. Like most of those artists, he writes & produces his own material, helping to revive the concept of the R&B auteur. His voice is very smooth and silky. Anyone who's listens to HERATIO’s debut CD, “EQUILIBRIUM", would agree that it's everything but an ordinary contemporary r & b album. The album's eight songs reveal a true appreciation and understanding of his love for music and it's obvious that what we have here is a bona fide artist at work. Unlike much of today's sometimes insipid commercial Soul (which relies heavily on samples for the groove and over-explicit promises of sex for lyrics) HERATIO’s creation is arguably different but nevertheless sensuous and funky. Built around his own true-life love story, "EQUILIBRIUM" is an album with a concept. Recorded live, “EQUILIBRIUM” has a sound which is hard to define, but easy to love, HERATIO’s the merger, the link between the sounds of 2007 and the finest of the '70's and early '80's. As fresh as it is fadeless. “EQUILIBRIUM” is a romantic concept album in the vein of Gaye's greatest '70s work, with a more modern flavor courtesy of Prince's influence; inspired by a brief but intense affair, the record's giddy celebration of committed monogamy could have come off as old-fashioned as its classic influences, given the marketplace dominance of hip-hop and R&B.HERATIO recorded “EQUILIBRIUM” his debut album November 18th 2006, songs featured on the CD were written with several collaborators: songwriter Greg Manning (who co-wrote “Does She Know”), guitarist Billy Odum (who co-wrote “Try” and co-produced “Whatever It Takes”), multi-instrumentalist Tres Gilbert (who co-wrote and produced “7days”), and Joey Sommerville (who co-wrote “So Fine”).Those who study the musicians credits will find Phil Davis on keyboards, Jorel “JFly” Flynn on drums, Aaron Clay on bass, Mark Strowbridge on guitar, Lola Troy, Artia Lockett and Regina Odum on background vocals. “The band is a pivotal part of my show. We work as a unit. Each member was hand picked based on their ability. I wanted to ensure that we would vibe well together. We only got to rehearse one time for the show, 50% of the performance was based on song format and the other 50% was raw”.Most of HERATIO’s experience comes from years playing in various night clubs and small venues in Atlanta. He experimented and performed all types of music from rock to soul to jazz. It is that experience that shaped his style and sound. “I wasn’t committed to anything...I did what I felt when I felt it. I feel that I gained something in each experience”.HERATIO is now being called one of music next big movements. The truth of the matter is that HERATIO is just an artist who doesn't neatly fit into any one particular category. "I love music, music of all genres, I don’t like to be pigeon-holed into a particular style of music, thus limiting my journey in music and the listeners that I have the potential to attract.”Although his is not a name you would typically associate with music--once you've heard his voice and his story, you're not likely to forget him. The multi-talented singer, songwriter, musician and producer has been bubbling quietly within the music world, and has already energized music lovers across the globe. With a project so ingenious that it's already building a buzz, months before its release. HERATIO observes, continues to learn, and patiently waits to unleash “EQUILIBRIUM” to the world.
