About Me
I have lived long enough to experience the good, bad and indifferent. I grew up in a small town in NC but my parents always exposed me to big things i.e. big cities, big dreams, big people and big values. I have had the opportunity to sing with some of the best in the industry as well as the best that is not in the industry. I do have some credits out there! I have great musical influences-my dad, my sister, all the Gospel greats, all the R& B Greats, all the hip hop greats, all the jazz greats, all the classical greats!I am a proud mother of a beautiful and equally inquisitive 5 year old daughter-Laryn Kennedy James. She is the joy of my life and I strive to be the best mommy that I can be each day. I have a great example-my own mom, Evelyn A. Troy!!I never thought that I would be at this alone but GOD allows for people to come across your path for a reason, for a season or for a lifetime. My dad always says take the meat and throw the bones away so with all these experiences-I try to learn something from it.
Thanks to all the professors, musicians, producers, singers, engineers, venues and entertainers that I have had the pleasure of working with. I have indeed learned from each of you. I am a better musician today because of these experiences. Let me also thank my musical mentors and friends for every piece of advice, every note correction, every laugh, just simply everything-Harold Troy-my dad and my first teacher of music, Tracey Troy-my sis the preacha and who I have tried to imitate since day one, Vanessa Bell-my best friend in the world, Blanche McAllister-my dear friend...check for her y'all, Xavier Cason-my middle school music teacher, college professor, the group Vision creator and friend, the Shades of Harmony-my college and post college singing group(Garion, Chad, Darrell, Terry (Fatt) and manager/friend Lo Lennon, Chip Shearin-my music professor/producer/friend, Denitra Champ-my LA vocal coach, all of my NCCU touring choir bros and sis, Dr. Ira Wiggins-my jazz instructor and the most awesome saxophonist I know!!, The Loving Sisters of Little Rock, AR-the most awesome family singing group and just happened to be my in-laws. All of the Producers-The Unit (Duane, Danny, Kevin, Marquis,Kiante)-thanks for all the work!!We got to do something D. Covert!! Chuckie Charles-you were my first producer in Atlanta, thanks for all the help and all the tracks, Fanatic AKA Frantic-I think I was your guinea pig for first female artist-we rocked out in the studio from sun up to sun down to do that demo with Billy and Queen with some Sunoco chicken in tow-your grind is unmeasurable!! Freddie Boy-My dad stills says those are the best songs that I have ever done in my life. You pushed me like none other!! To Larry James-the man I said I do to. Even though our lives took another path, we are still the best of friends. You are by far the most talented musician that I know. The world is going to be shocked when you get your grind on for real!! I wish you much success and our child prodigy is going to be a musical beast!!She has the best of both worlds-singing and playing instruments!! I can't wait to see what she will play first. You know she is already a singing beast!! I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
