WHY WEAR THE ART
There is no question that Black, Brown and Oppressed Communities are fighting a war against oppression and annihilation, in the form of capitalistic governments and its cohorts. Recognizing the daily need for resistance, we all have to play our part in order to achieve the goal of FREEDOM and SELF-DETERMINATION. Not everyone is a frontliner battling the system like some of Freedom Fighters like POCC Chairman Fred Hampton Jr, Pam Africa of the International Concerned Friends and Family of Mumia Abu-Jamal and our many Political Prisoners and Political Exiles like Mumia Abu-Jamal, the San Francisco 8, Assata Shakur, Mutulu Shakur, Aaron Patterson and Leonard Peltier.
Wear The Art by We're The Art provides a way for eveyday individuals to promote and stand in solidarity with the struggle going on with our people today. By representing the images and slogans of heros past and present, we make resistance a part of our lives, and a part of our culture. We all put clothes on eveyday--why promote corporate labels that have no accountability to our communities when you can promote the campaign of a sista or a brotha who is struggling to bring us closer to freedom?
Our oppressors understand the power of our Culture. We must too and seize it as a tool to spark the Cultural revolution like the ones that had cats rockin' afros, screaming, I'm Black and I'm Proud!

Mos Def - Dollar Day (Katrina Klap)

A video recording of Mos Def's Katrina Klap recording session, edited with cuts of the horrific footage of the US governments failure to respond to the desperate situation on the ground in the New Orleans disaster of 2005. The video also backs up arguments with interesting factual evidence, which will make you want to watch it a few times.
