NOBODY'S DOG
by: Heidi Tidd
Today, I found Nobody's Dog.
Her ribs were beginning to show through.
At first, she tucked her tail tightly and ran,
Then, ever hopeful, returned with a tenative wag.
I bet she was cute as a puppy.
Somebody picked her out special, took her home,
And made her believe she would always be loved;
But some humans change their minds
As often as dirty socks.
Even so, the betrayed black dog is still loving them,
Futilely waiting for them to come back for her
She had a name once, and now she can't understand,
For you see, a dog's love never dies.
Today, I found Nobody's Dog.
One of millions abandoned each year
By owners's who take the cowardly way out.
They won't see her slowly starve or freeze to death,
Be hit by a car, or live at the mercy of strangers,
As she begs for a scrap of attention.
Today, the Shelter rescued Nobody's Dog.
There, she'll be fed, she'll be loved, and hopefully
She'll be claimed by a more fitting, deserving human.
If not, she'll go to an even better place,
One where dogs are always loved,
And are never thrown away on a cruel whim
But, she still yearns........
To be Somebody's Dog once more.
A Dog's Prayer
Treat me kindly, my beloved friend, for no heart in all the world is more grateful for kindness than the loving heart of me. Do not break my spirit with force. Your patience and understanding will more quickly teach me the things you would have me learn. Speak to me often for your voice is the world's sweetest music, as you must know by the fierce wagging of tail when your footsteps falls upon my waiting ears.
I ask no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet beside the hearth. Keep my pan filled with fresh water, for I cannot tell you when I am thirsty. Feed me good food that I may stay well, to romp and play and do your bidding, to walk by your side, and stand ready, willing and able to protect you, and my friend, when I am very old and I no longer enjoy good health, do not make heroic efforts to keep me going. I am not having any fun. Please see that my trusting life is taken gently. I shall leave this earth knowing that my fate was always safest in your hands.

My Love For Animals
by Katherine James....
Animals are loyal,
loving and obedient.
Caring and affectionate,
Gorgeous as can be!
Animals are friends,
Best friends to me.
Always standing by you,
As willing as can be.
Always underestimated,
But still they exist.
Nothing will ever hurt them more,
Than hatred and mistrust.
Always there to talk to,
Although they don't reply.
You see it in their eyes,
And know that they'll stand by.
They save life's,
And help the blind.
But still we do not see,
That animals weren't made as slaves,
But as friends for you and me!!!
I'd like to meet:
Hi! I am a mother of one teen-age daughter who is the best daughter in the world! (boy does she have me fooled, uh?) I am married to a wonderful man who is my best friend. I am not a 'talker', but I love to listen. If asked, I will offer my two cents worth, but I will never preach. I have two spoiled dogs and two very independant spoiled cats.

~ Martin Luther King, Jr. He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.

The one absolute, unselfish friend that man can have in this selfish world - the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous - is his dog....He will kiss the hand that had no food to offer, he will lick the wounds and sores that come in encounter with the roughness of the world....When all other friends desert, he remains.
~ George G. Vest No matter how little money and how few possessions you own, having a dog makes you rich.

Words of wisdom
Life is too short. Grudges are a waste of perfect happiness. Laugh when you can. Apoligize when you should. Let go of what you can't change. Love deeply and forgive quickly. Take chances...Give everything. Have NO Regrets. Life is too short to be unhappy. You have to take the good with the bad. Smile when your sad. Love what you got and always remember what you had. Always forgive but never forget. Learn from your mistakes. People change and things go wrong. But always remember
LIFE GOES ON!!
Remember, when someone annoys you, it takes 42 muscles in your face to frown; BUT, it only takes 4 muscles to extend your arm and smack the jerk upside the head.
A Prayer for Animals
Hear our humble prayer,
O God,
for our friends, the animals,
especially for those who are suffering;
for any that are lost or deserted
or frightened or hungry.
We entreat for them all
Thy mercy and pity,
and for those who deal with them,
we ask a heart of compassion
and gentle hands and kindly words.
Make us, ourselves,
to be true friends to animals
and so to share
the blessings
of the merciful.
~Albert Schweitzer
"Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole."
~Roger Caras
"Animals are such agreeable friends - they ask no questions, they pass no criticisms."
~ George Elliot
"Dogs come when they're called; cats take a message and get back to you later."
~Mary Bly
A DOGS SOUL
Every dog must have a soul
Somewhere deep inside
Where all his hurts and grievances
Are buried with his pride.
Where he decides the good and bad,
The wrong way from the right,
And where his judgement carefully
Is hidden from our sight.
A dog must have a secret place
Where every thought abides,
A sort of close acquaintance that
He trusts in and confides.
And when accused unjustly for
Himself, he cannot speak,
Rebuked, he finds within his soul
The comfort he must seek.
He'll love, though he is unloved,
And he'll serve though badly used,
And one kind word will wipe away
The times when he's abused.
Although his heart may break in two
His love will still be whole,
Because God gave to every dog
An understanding soul!

Ten Commandments Of A Responsible Pet Owner
1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you will be painful.
2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.
3. Place your trust in me.
4. Don't be angry with me for long, and don't lock me up as punishment, you have your work, your friends and your entertainment. I ONLY HAVE YOU.
5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand the words, I understand your voice when it's speaking to me.
6. Be aware that however you treat me, I'll never forget it.
7. Before you hit me, remember that I have teeth that could easily crush the bones in your hand, but I choose not to.
8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me, perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I've been out in the sun to long, or my heart may be getting old and weak.
9. Take care of me when I get old, You too will grow old.
10. Go with me on difficult journeys. Never say, "I can't bear to watch it" or " let it happen in my absence". Everything is easier for ME If you are there. Remember, I LOVE YOU...

10 Reason why you should Spay and Neuters your Animal Companions.
1. Every day 70,000 puppies and kittens are born in this country while only 10,000 people are born.
2. It's simple math - there just arent enough homes for all of these animals.
3. Every year 10-12 million animals are euthanized in shelters for lack of available homes.
4. On average, 64% of all animals taken into shelters nationwide have to be euthanized for this reason.
5. At least 50% of the overpopulation problem is non-neutered males. Females cant do it alone.
6. Purebreds account for 30% of all the animals in shelters. "Papers" dont mean an animal should be bred.
7. For every home you find for an animal that you have bred, a home is lost for a shelter animal.
8. Breeding to "see the miracle of birth" demands that you also "see the tragic results". Visit a shelter.
9. Animal overpopulation has reached a crisis point in this country.
10. You personally can make a difference by spaying or neutering your pet. It is the single most important thing you can do to prevent animal cruelty!
