Our name is not "Spon". It is Spön. S P Ö N. the letter 'ö' is pronounced somewhat like the 'u' in "burn". Actually, it would have been more appropriate for us, being norwegians, spelling our name with the letter "Ø". Back in 99, we went for the 'ö', to make the name look more interesting. Besides, Motörhead use the letter. Looking back, the letter hasnt been an advantage at all. people seldomspell our name right, set in capital letters, the two dots lie on top of the letters, and getting an internet domain is such a hassle.
