OvaryAction started as a music-obsessed, queer-enhanced, Oslo-based, Yeasty Grrlz- inspired fanzine. It has been distributed on a (-n almost) monthly basis in some record stores, infoshops and venues of the norwegian capital. It's not that many of them, so you should be able to find one... not the capital, I mean........................... Anyway, if you want to go straight to the point, you can drop by the independent bookshop called Torpedo, on Hausmansgate, Hausmania (2 doors down) or Blitz's infoshop. Theres's always a couple of OA laying around there (among other goodies)............................. You can also subscribe: NKR 100,- for a year (between 8 and 10 issues) and you'll find each issue (with some candies for your eyes and ears) at your door.--- --- --- --- As far as the contents' concerned: generally and roughly speaking, the editors and collaborators let their imagination and creativity run wild'n'crazy on feminist, anti-conformist-sexist-"rankist" themes, with soundtracks that rÃ¥wk their world to the point of dizzyness and beyond the g-spot of extasy. You may now catch your breath. And why not practice reading it backward? A vegan lutefisk to the 23rd one who succcceeeeeds.---- ----and we re back to the zine: You will also find interviews, reviews, short-stories, burst of laughters, anger, tears and comic strips that complete the atomic recipe. We aim at pissing on (self-)(!!!!! how do we do that?!?!?))imposed boundaries and strangling, suffocating categories (an eye for an eye and a fake tooth for a real one). ---- --- --- OvaryAction is not as serious as it sounds, really (no, really?!?). You can take it to the loo or leave it on the bench in the park, on a seat on the tram, it's a cheap way to spread the word.--- --- --- Queer Freedom starts with paper! the Gaudess knows where it'll take us, and it's not the supermarket.--- --- --- --- --- Oh yeah, we were about to forget: in 2003, OvaryAction also became a weekly radioshow on Oslo's feminist, free radio station radiOrakel. So every Saturday, tune in to 99.3 fm in Oslo or www.radiorakel.no, from 16 to 17:00, Cardiff time +1 (rerun same place on Wednesdays, but from 15 til 16:00) and hear our favourite grrrrls/mixed gender/gender bender bands, interviews, what's on in Oslo, spoken words, some news we collected...etc (see the playlists on the blog). There, you can also win -we're soooo playfull- some specially designed and made for you OA presents- if you know the track of the Cover Song Contest (aka the CSC to the initiated) that is. In order to play, you have to ring or send an email ([email protected]) and give the RIGHT answer. You have to be first to win...unless specified otherwise.... basically you really have to listen, clear!?! Did that sound authoritarian? Sorry for the sensitive souls. --- --- --- OvaryAction is tightly and deeply -heart and soul and gut and skin- connected to another show (and website: www.babesinboyland.info) of the same kind, called Babes In Boyland. To make a longish story shortish: the former show (OA) was co-created by half of the latter (BiB) after that half moved from Montpellier, FR, to Oslo, Norway. That's VERY short....not sure it s really clear. Complementarity has thus been displaced, not destroyed: southern and northern music tastes and concerns are still closely related. Networking as a goal and ultimate practices... no double-standards here!!!!
