STUPEFY!

About Me

For ADULTS who are voting this year...check out this edutational message from that sweet girl Sarah Silverman.
The Great Schlep from The Great Schlep on Vimeo .So yeah, I like to keep busy, work hard and play hard. My life is chaotic and I seek balance and direction for the energy of this discord. My beliefs and lifestyle are unconventional and I'm always open to learning more about myself, other people and the world around us. I do read my messages regularly but I would like to spend LESS time at the computer rather than more, so I don't always reply quickly or at length...please don't take it personally.R.I.P. George Carlin! you'll be sorely missed, & let's not let THEM [the FCC] have any peace until justice is served.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTyzTJTNhNk..

Movies:

Brazil, The Meaning of Life (and most other Terry Gilliam/Monty Python movies); Cannibal the Musical, Team America, South Park: Bigger, Longer, Uncut, Orgazmo (and most Trey Parker/Matt Stone films); The Princess Bride (whatever happened to Cary Elwes?); Zotz! (really old B & W fantasy film); 200 Motels (Zappa); Arise! (Church of the SubGenius); Dead Man, Mystery Train (and most Jim Jarmusch films); Sex Trek, Candy Goes to Hollywood, Cafe Flesh, Rod Steele 0014 (and other smart, funny, well-done 'alternative' erotica); Forbidden Zone (early work by Danny Elfman and Oingo Boingo); The Devils, Tommy (and some other Ken Russell films); Frederick Wiseman documentaries; Heaven (a film about dying by Diane Keaton); Nightmare Before Christmas, Batman, Ed Wood, Mars Attacks (and most Tim Burton films)...and many, many more. I do love movies and will keep adding to this list.

Television:

I do try not to watch too much television. It's especially bad for you if you spend a lot of time on the computer, which I have to do for work (and also why I don't update my profile that often.) But here are a few of my favorite shows: Boston Legal, The Simpsons, Desperate Housewives, Family Guy (sometimes-sometimes not!), That '70's Show (first few seasons at least), Scrubs, Law and Order (a guilty pleasure); Mad TV (mainly older episodes) Saturday Night Live (still sporadically good, but I like to catch really old episodes late at night), The Office, Arrested Development (RIP), Futurama (RIP) and late night talk shows when they have bands on, but can't stand most of them except maybe Conan O'Brien sometimes. On public television, I like Monty Python's Flying Circus; The Office (British version); The Red Green Show; Globe Trekker; Second Hand Stories (if they ever finish the series) and music documentaries. IF I had cable, I'd watch: The Daily Show with John Stewart; South Park; Drawn Together; Reno 911; and anything on Animal Planet (well, not ANYthing, I don't like watching them chewing on one another.) That's plenty of TV for anyone, don't you think? I like taping things so I can skip the commercials. I REALLY HATE COMMERCIALS, which is why I work in public radio.

Books:

I tend to have favorite authors, and read pretty much everything they write. I do read a lot and favor fantasy/sci fi, erotica, and witty satires on modern culture. Some of my fave fiction authors include: Kurt Vonnegut, Terry Pratchett, Sheri Tepper, Anne Rice (A.K. Roquelaire), J.K. Rowling, and pretty much the entire staff of the Onion. For nonfiction: Noam Chomsky, Robert Fisk, Ben Granby, Amy Goodman, Jon Stewart, Al Franken, Chuck Klosterman, Michael Moore. More to come as again, I do read a lot.

Heroes:

Annie Sprinkle. Margaret Cho. William Shatner. Kids in the Hall (all.) Eugene Mirman. Amy Goodman. Jon Stewart. Lisa Simpson. Rev. Ivan Stang. Susan Sarandon. Janeane Garafalo. Karen Finley. Penn and Teller. Phil Hartman. Dave Chappelle. Suzie Bright. Trey Parker and Matt Stone. Amy Poehler. Steven Colbert. Helen Caldicott. Cornel West. Kurt Vonnegut. Jim Jarmusch. All members of Monty Python. More....
