I am the undisputed silverback of the Madison music/bar scene & have definitely been a contender in many other places throughout the world. I have clashed with Titans, drank with Demigods & pee'ed off the edge of Olympus.I'm part P.T. Barnum, part Adrian Monk, part Doctor Detroit, part Hugh Hefner, part Jack Sparrow, part Jake Blues, part Darth Vader, part Tony Soprano, part Wyatt Earp, part Hunter S. Thompson, part Charles Bukowski, part Jack Kerouac, part W.C. Fields & part Austin Powers, but I am mostly Teddy bear.I work in music promotion, own & publish a music magazine & have promoted mud wrestling shows as well. I was the director of the famed Mifflin Street Block Party 25 year Anniversary. I set a record with 30,000+ people & made it on CNN. It was a "Back to the Future" pivotal moment for me, my magazine & several other people & bands. The other director went on to bring the Onion to the national publication it is today & my stage director for the stage I had the late great Buddy Miles on is my business partner at the magazine. I recently consulted on the new Sam Raimi film "Drag Me to Hell". They have some scenes where they are wrestling around in the mud. So, they came to the master, yours truly, co-founder & co-director of the Mud Wrestling Organization. I'm also a musician, but usually only sit in with bands I'm working with on special occasions. Last year I sat in with Clyde Stubblefield, Jabo Starks & Fred Wesley among others at a stellar gig in Tokyo.(all core members of the James Brown Band from the 60's & 70's) That was one of my most memorable gigs of all times. The bands big & small are too many to list, but I'm honored most of all to have sat in frequently with the Clyde Stubblefield Band. If you are unfamiliar with the name, you are familiar with his work. Clyde was James Brown's drummer & is credited as the inventor of the funk beat, as well as the most sampled drummer on planet Earth with drumsticks hanging in both the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame & the Smithsonian. He has also graced me by playing my Birthday Ball every year he's not been on tour for many, many years.I am co-owner/founder of Maximum Ink Music Magazine. I named Maximum Ink after my brother Max just before he passed away. He was an inspiration to me in life & I miss him every day. He gave his all. Max never missed an opportunity to make the most of life.Maximum Ink has had a number of number of interviews I'm very proud of over the years, but the Les Paul interview says it all. We got an exclusive interview with Les Paul, who is over 93. This man has influenced more people musically than Mozart & I have a picture of him holding a copy of my magazine during our exclusive interview. He is quite a man. He is very down to Earth & originally from Wisconsin himself. He plays two shows every Monday at the Iridium Jazz Club in Manhattan. While I may may the self imposed silverback of the Madison music/bar scene etc I definitly came from the geekiest of beginnings. I grew up on the other side of the highway from all of the kids I went to school with. I think that played a big part in the hand eye coordination aspect of my life. I played musical instruments, shot guns for countless hours of target practice, can use a lasso, whip or yo-yo like a demon & was into magic BIG TIME. I'm a huge fan of Harry Houdini(who is also from Wisconsin) & like him I was able to tie my shoes with my toes by the time I was 10. Believe me, it was for lack of anything better to do. I guess that just goes to show what extreme boredom, prehistoric cable with only 7 channels counting HBO & lack of places to get into trouble can lead a boy to do.I also played video games on the U.S. National Team & still hold several world records. One of my most impressive world records was the longest time on a video game on one quarter. I was at 78 hours with over 180 men in reserve when the machine had a power surge & died. It took me over 6 & 1/2 hours to loose my first man. I could have easily made my goal of 100 hours with that many men saved up. I never made another attempt, since I knew I could do the 100 hours & nobody else had ever come anywhere near 78 hours. ...any takers? :)My birthday is the same day as Jimi Hendrix & Bruce Lee. As it turns out, all three of us are Dragons.
