In Praise of Art & Spirit

About Me

I have another myspace account that showcases some of my photography and writing. CLICK HERE if you'd like to see some of my art.
I'm a kind man who tries to make the world a better place - and himself, a better person. I have a strong body, a positive spirit, and a bright mind. I am a teacher, a writer, and an artist. I am well-educated, creative, and have a good sense of humor - sometimes a quick wit, sometimes silly. I am responsible, reliable, and honest. At the same time, I am independent and tend to think and live "outside the box." I adore cats. I live in the quiet, lush green outskirts of Chiang Mai in Thailand. I am not all that concerned with money but quality of life is very important to me. I value friendship and truth. Life is short and I want to live it well.
If you cry because the sun has gone out of your life,
your tears will prevent you from seeing the stars.
~Rabindranath Tagore
Breathe... Feel the body... Smile... Relax...
It's not easy for me to ask for help (or to accept it) but it is clear that I need to learn to do so. I have advanced colon cancer and have run out of resources. I have come to Thailand to try to heal myself, having refused radiation, chemotherapy, and surgery. If you are able to contribute to my medical care fund, this will allow me to pursue alternative treatments. I have been touched deeply by the generosity of my friends, my students, and even complete strangers. Thank you for your assistance, your love, your kindness, your warm thoughts.
Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words; they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits.
Watch your habits; they become character.
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.
~Frank Outlaw
We are what we think.
All that we are arises with our thoughts.
With our thoughts we make the world.
Speak or act with an impure mind
And trouble will follow you
As the wheel follows the ox that draws the cart.
...
Speak or act with a pure mind
And happiness will follow you
As your shadow, unshakable.
~Buddha

My Interests

I enjoy photography , massage , poetry , writing , and Buddhist meditation . I adore cats, hot tubs, lying nude in the sun, art, modern dance, butoh, contact dance, music, yoga, cuddling, kissing, sensual pleasures, laughter. I'm curious about people, exploring new places, tattoos, piercings, gender identity, androgyny, conscious sexuality (tantra), contortionists, other cultures. I like road trips, people watching, deconstructing identity. I love France, especially in the south, and want to explore Thailand, Bali, Cuba, and Brazil. I try to practice kindness, compassion, patience, curiosity. I learn many lessons from cats and children. I think sax and stand-up bass are sexy.

Love
You are a lover of love. You love to love and be loved. You are perhaps a hopeless romantic but those are rare nowadays. Think of it as a gift. Whether you are saving yourself for that special someone or you have already found him or her. You are part of an almost extinct species of human. The kind that believe in true love... Because love is truly beautiful!
Take the quiz: "What do you love about making love?"
CURRENT MOON moon info

I'd like to meet:

FRIENDS: I'm happy to expand my circle of friends, both locally and around the world. People to hang out and have fun with. An extended family around the globe. People to confide in, trust, and share quality time with. I am particularly looking to expand the creative influences in my life - artists of all ages and backgrounds. I appreciate diversity.I love my friends from all over the world but now that I'm all alone in a new country - Thailand - I'd love to make friends to actually hang out with and who can help me learn the ins and outs of Thai life and language.
You can also find me on tribe.net .
MODELS: As a photographer, I'm always looking for people to work with. Check out some of my work at BodyDharma and let me know if you're interested in some artistic collaboration. I have numerous projects I work on but at the moment I am very interested in faces.
You can also see some of my work at DeviantART and usefilm . [The contrast on my monitor was off when I touched up the images so I need to redo them all, Ugh!]
PEOPLE INTERESTED IN NETWORKING AND/OR BARTER: I'm currently working on some video projects and would love to meet others with relevant skills to work with. I'm open to sharing my skills with others engaged in creative projects. I enjoy massage exchanges and I am also open to offering therapeutic massage in barter for other services. Photography is a skill I'm happy to offer. I have numerous skills. Let's talk. Now that my health is less than great, there are certain things I need help with and it would be wonderful to be able to do some kind of exchange other than monetary.

IN GENERAL: Due to my history, I have issues trusting men. It's nothing personal. They are just my issues. It would be nice to have some male friendships, but I don't seem to meet the right men. I obviously am not the age listed. Please get to know me for who I am, not when I was born. I will do the same for you. I am attracted to people who live their life creately, who appreciate art, who question conventions and think for themselves, and who value truth. I tend to not have much in common with people whose vocabularies include Faggot, Nigger, Bitch. I don't much care for people who use the names of body parts that I have great affection for (you know the words I mean), to derisively refer to other people. Three credos that guide my life are: "You are the result of your thoughts"; "Know thyself"; and "The unexamined life is not worth living." I really would like people in my Friend Space to be people who I actually know or who are willing to interact in some way. I'm not looking to collect or be collected. I have a fantastically diverse group of myspace friends, each of who I hope to learn from and I will do my best, given the limits of my health and energy, to be available as a real friend to you. I am not one who reserves friendship for a few, like it were some scarce resource that could be depleted, but rather I see friendship as a natural abundance that grows the more it is given. I love ALL my friends!
