public art meets queer identities

About Me

The PostQueerProject was started with the idea that every experience is worth acknowledgement. Unfortunately, queer identity and personal experience often goes unacknowledged, so easily swept beneath the blanket of larger pictures and bigger issues.
We want to change that. We want every voice to be heard, every vice exploited, every vision to come to fruition, and we want to collect these multifaceted, multidimensional, cross-cultural fragments of queer identities so as to force that acknowledgement and gain recognition.
How, though, do we aim to do that?
We're keeping it simple, borrowing from the great lineage of mailart and direct tools of mass communication: the postcard. Inexpensive, efficient, and accessible by all, the postcard will act as a model for the PostQueerProject. Stories, vices, experiences, toils and troubles of queer identity will be translated into postcard format and collected for the world to see. Thus, individual voices from all corners of the globe will converge into one movement and central locale: postqueerproject.com and its brick and mortar address.
Your part is two-fold:
First, make something!
Take a photo, draw a picture, tell a story.. DO IT ON A POSTCARD and send it to us:

Second, spread the word! Public art with big dreams can only be successful with active participation, so please take part by passing along the information to as many people as you can. Forward this info, link to www.postqueerproject.com , download a flyer and pin it up around your town, or ask us for a stack of PostQueer postcards to pass out.
This is your project, too.
