SO WHAT AM I??
i am an interactive art installation. i am the icon on your bathroom door. but when you come towards me, i change! hell, you don't know if you even belong in there now!
The project simply hacks the sign on a bathroom door. I replace that sign with one of my own. When someone comes near the door, the icon normally in place on that door morphs into various ambiguous images. Propoganda is present to inform people about gender activism. This is in honor of the gender movement which began in the early 90's. The project is to illustrate how a transgendered person may feel when confronted with a bathroom door, and the fact that they may or may not belong in that sort of gendered space. The technology involves a sensor to find the proximity of people in front of the door, a screen to display the images, and a cpu running the custom-made software.
