About Me

..
Me me me me me me me!...
I'm a writer, stand-up comedian and tv presenter. I also co-manage a band called HUNGOVER STUNTMEN visit them by clicking on their name.
Click the button to add HUNGOVER STUNTMEN as a friend...
I was co-founder of arse-joke sales phenomenon Viz Comic.
My career best was probably creating Sid the Sexist (I wrote and drew him) In the YouTube clip below from the 1992 Polygram Sid the Sexist video (now available on DVD) I provide the voice of Bob (the one with the oval head) Bob Mortimer is the voice of Baz, Mike Milligan is the voice of Joe, and my late friend Sammy Johnson is Sid.
Mr Logic, Millie Tant, The Parkie, Kewl Chix and Johnny Fartpants (co-creator) are also up there amongst my proudest achievements. I also wrote for most of the other Viz characters (as part of a team) and occasionally drew them too. I also provided character voices on all of the games on the Viz website, including my brother Steve's animation of my strip Doctor Poo which can also be seen below.
..
This is a short trailer for a DVD of an event called BandStand which I hosted last year for the Teenage Cancer Trust. You can buy the DVD by visiting their website at TEENAGE CANCER TRUST

My Interests

I like funny stuff, me.
And 20th century design. And music. And cooking. I like riding Italian scooters. And driving old Mini Coopers. I can't say I'm really a tit man.

I'd like to meet:

No more heroes...
I'd like to throw a dinner party for the ghosts of Stan Laurel, Jackie Milburn, Bill Hicks, Joe Strummer, John Lennon, George Harrison, John Entwhistle, Peter Sellers and Spike Milligan with the ghost Keith Moon as the after dinner speaker and the ghost of Ivor Cutler reading poetry. Minty bullet.

Music:

Put the needle on the rekud...
The Beatles, The Who, The Clash, Hungover Stuntmen, The Ramones, The Faces, The Small Faces, Van Morrison, The Rifles, Paul Weller, The Jam, Neil Young, Carole King, The Animals, Bob Marley, Susan Cadogan, Marvin Gaye, Ronnie Lane, Ocean Colour Scene, Curtis Mayfield, Thin Lizzy, The Beareu, Pink Floyd, Elvis Costello, Stone Roses, Oasis, Otis Redding, Arthur 2 Stroke, John Otway, Elvis, Jimi Hendrix, The Kinks, Roy Orbison, Steely Dan, most Nothern Soul classics & rarities, Trojan compilations, I also like bits of everything from the Carpenters to Motorhead via Nat King Cole and Klaus Wunderlich.
I'm prepared to give anything a go, but music which I really love sticks with me for life. The Beatles Abbey Road and The Who Who's Next were the first two albums I ever bought. I got them both second hand in the Handyside Arcade in Newcastle. Nothing has ever topped them.

Movies:

Business Class Movies... Action, Comedy, Romace...
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Get Carter, Withnail and I, Rumble Fish, The Likely Lads, Pulp Fiction, Nuts In May, A Night at the Opera, Kes, A Hard Day's Night, 2001 A Space Odessey (apart from the last mind-numbing 10 minutes), West Side Story, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Young Frankenstein, Blazing Saddles, The Magnificent Seven, Alien, The Italian Job, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, all the Laurel and Hardy shorts, Snatch, Lock Stock & Two Smoking Barrells, Stir Crazy, Scarface, Brighton Rock, Little Shop of Horrors, The Producers (original - not yet seen new musical version), Raging Bull, Rocky (easy now!... just the first one) A Shot In the Dark, Trains Planes and Automobiles, Uncle Buck, Mouse Hunt, What's New Pussycat?, The Graduate, Bananas, Take The Money and Run, Play It Again Sam, The Return of the Pink Panther, A Hard Day's Night, Help!, The Creature From The Black Lagoon, It Came From Outer Space, Yellow Submarine, Billy Liar, Villain, Dirty Harry, Slade in 'Flame', Thunderbirds Are Go, Love Me Tender, Batman Begins, Batman (1966)... zzzzzzzz

Television:

I watched the 1966 World Cup Final in a tv shop window in the Grainger Market ...
The Mark Steele Lectures, Snuff Box, Peep Show, 15 Stories High, Rising Damp, I'm Alan Partridge, Father Ted, Brass Eye, Porridge, Fawlty Towers, The Sweeney, Minder, UFO, Later with Jools, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Mighty Boosh, The Day Today, Broken News, The Royle Family, Whatever Happened to the Likely Lads?, Batman (1966-68), Vic Reeves Big Night Out, The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer, Catterick, Bilko, Hill Street Blues, Morcombe and Wise, Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, Columbo, pretty much anything on the History Channel.

Books:

Damn yer fancy learnin' books!...
Due to having once turned up at toga party dressed as a goat I've hardly read books at all in my life, but Diary Of A Nobody by George and Weedon Grossmith was so good I read it twice. Buy it!
