Misguided to the max

About Me

huh?

My Interests

Devoted to the eternal search for music. And I spend some time with my family and friends too. A little sun worship, a little moon worship, a little tree worship, it's all good.

I'd like to meet:

Musicheads.

Music:

Top five bands of the past five years, no order: Shins, Clientele, Of Montreal, Broadcast, Radiohead. All time faves (listening for 20+ years): Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Grateful Dead, Black Sabbath, Allman Bros, Jefferson Airplane,Led Zeppelin, Cream, Hendrix, Cap't Beefheart, Dylan, Renaissance, Beatles, Moody Blues, Cat Stevens, Utopia,Uriah Heep, Jethro Tull, ELO, ELP, Yes, Mike Oldfield, Genesis, CSNY/Neil Young, Traffic, Mothers of Invention. 90's bands that I haven't quite been listening to for 20 years: Son Volt, Mazzy Star, Pavement, Jayhawks, Pond, Meat Puppets, Smashing Pumpkins, Sonic Youth, Soundgarden, Beck, Yo La Tengo, Belle & Sebastian, Low. 90's bands I used to love but can't stomach anymore: Primus, Jane's Addiction, AIC, Phish, RHCP. Emeralds/The Loto Ball Show/Silver Apples @ Grog

I heard once or twice that fun is fun. You know what, fun is fun, it's entirely true. Got there a bit after ten and Emeralds was playing already, but I caught most of it. Probably the best set I ever ...

experimental night at Pat’s with Zs and many others

Right after work, and then playing some kickball with the boy and his cousin, I hit a trail for jog. I have not jogged in awhile. Usually I sprint the last  500 feet to really kick my own ass. Th...

extra bases

I love this time of year. Every year in early June I take some vacation time, get away from the bullshit and all. Today's Nate's 8th birthday, and we had 5 of his best dogz come over and played some k...

Private Sea/The Nightlights @ Now That’s Class

What a week for music. I could go to a show every night this week. But Colleen would kick me out of the house. Three should be enough. Private Sea from Philadelphia asked Expecting Rain to play this s...

Dick Hearse @ Tower 2012

The brain has been switched into creative mode the last two nights. With very little effort or time I was able to come up with some fairly complex chord sequences (for me) that don't sound like comple...

Thursday Club/Tony Void/Frass Accolades @ Verlie’s Cafe

Verlie's is a little neighborhood bar in what I guess would be Ohio City (W. 46th and Storer), an out-of-the-way corner place with cheap beer ($1.75 High Lifes before music starts; $2.25 during music)...

a short story, and then A Faulty Chromosome @ Pats

He picked over the produce carefully, selecting fruits that were not quite beyond ripeness, because here you had to be careful . This was not a reliable grocery. This was a little produce shop where ...

Akron/Family @ Grog Shop

A guy named Nick Schillace opened up and I caught maybe 15 minutes of his set. Just him and a guitar and he didn't sing so it was pretty standard dark folk picking, which is inherently good but not to...

Andy Friedman & the Other Failures/Blue Mountain @ Beachland

A long time ago, in a place down the street, I used to work with some great people and some completely insane and mentally/emotionally retarded people as well. I keep crossing paths with one of t...

Tit/Freedom/Indian Jewelry @ Beachland Tavern

The Beachland, on a Tuesday night at 9:45, is not ready for Tit. But the show must begin. Early enough in the night that everyone is sitting at the bar or in the booths. Not optimum for Tit-viewing....
