The Beachland

The world's most eclectic music club.

About Me

The Beachland Ballroom was built in 1950 as the Croatian Liberty Home, with the ballroom and tavern comprising the original structure. In 1976 the kitchen and back bar area were added. The Liberty Home was active on many social and political fronts and was a true Cleveland landmark before becoming Cleveland's most eclectic music club in the year 2000.

My Interests

We love comments about the club; Keep them coming. Please don't use our page for promoting events at other clubs or for otherwise blatant self promotion. Thanks.

I'd like to meet:

ATTN: BANDS

We book established national, regional and Northeast Ohio acts. If you are local to the Cleveland/Akron Metropolitan area, please skip to step one.
So you are a national touring act? Do you have national distribution? Do you have national press? Do you have a fan base ready to buy tickets in this market? If yes, proceed to step two.
If no, please don't assume that we can just add a bunch of strong locals. There is no incentive for them to play with a band that they have never heard of with no draw. If you still want to get a show here the best thing to do is to find solid locals yourself and have them bring you in.

1. The best way to get a show here is to hang out here. That's how my band got a show long before I worked here. It just makes sense, you want to make friends with people who go to shows.

2. Contact me, Ken, at [email protected]. Put your band's name in the subject. The body should include your bands name, contact person, phone number, AND a direct email address where I can contact you along with a link to your MySpace and website if you have one.
---We prefer electronic correspondence, but if you must, mail us your press package including a CD, photo, and reviews to Beachland Ballroom c/o Ken 15711 Waterloo Rd, Cleveland, OH 44110.

3. Give us an idea of what you can draw . The Ballroom holds 500, and the Tavern holds 150, but if you can draw 20-50 people, we can work with you. Be honest.

4. We try to make these shows aesthetically consistent, so it is important that potential openers fit stylistically with the show that you're trying to get on. Check out what's coming. here!

5. If you are friendly and professional your chances of getting booked go way up. Contact me personally. Having a manager doesn't increase your chances of getting a show and it's a lot easier to deal with bands directly.

6. We will be expecting you to promote your show at the Beachland with fliers, MySpace posts, a message to your email list and whatever other methods you use to get the word out. The best way is to personally tell your friends, family and coworkers about the show.
7. If you've never played here please don't waste my time with outlandish requests to play on our biggest shows. It's not going to happen. Usually those bands bring their own openers and in the rare instances where we can fill a slot it will go to a local with a proven draw.

8. Some DONT'S.
----Don't tell me you are national touring act. National touring acts don't refer to themselves as national touring acts.
----Don't tell me you are a radio friendly alternative band. That's an oxymoron. Also, don't tell me you are radio friendly or alternative. Radio friendly means you are watered down and boring and alternative means dated. Either way it's not a selling point.
----Don't use "up and coming." Or "up incoming." Not sure what that one means but I get it a lot.
