Quincey Cecil AKA DJ Q has been known to be a jack-of-all-trades. Quincey’s first experience as a DJ came when he was only seven years old. During this time, his parents would frequently have parties in their home. When mom was not paying attention to the music, that’s when DJ Q stepped up to the plate and took the party over. After 30 minutes of non-stop music, DJ Q’s parents yelled, “Boy, go to bed!†It was then his parents friends came to his rescue for him to continue to play music because they were enjoying his new found talent. After that experience, Quincey was spinning every time there was an event at the Cecil residence.Being surrounded by music all of his life, Quincey ventured into other areas that music had to offer. Quincey began to sing and later direct different choirs such as the world re-known Charles Clancy’s Voices of Medley (Which Quincey was their youngest director at age 16), The Voices Salem Baptist Church of Chicago, and The Alabama A & M University Gospel Choir just to name a few. Quincey has also performed and recorded with notable gospel artist such as John P. Kee, Lashun Pace, Darius Brooks, Albertina Walker, and Evangelist Janice White.Quincey’s love for music and his knowledge of gospel music grew even greater. In January of 2000, Quincey was offered a position of Music Buyer by the Store Manager of the House of Peace Christian Book Center (The largest Christian bookstore in Chicago). The Store Manager was very impressed with his knowledge of gospel music and his interaction with the customers while he was working as a loss prevention specialist. During his five-year tenure at the House of Peace, the independently owned store became a household name among the more notable Christian retail chain stores such as Family Christian and Life Way Bookstores. A year and a half later, Quincey was promoted to Music Department and Store Assistant Manager.Quincey’s Passion was still becoming a DJ and making people dance. In 2002, Quincey was spinning tunes at one of Chicago’s premiere steppers clubs until the headlining DJ arrived. While Quincey was spinning, the Holy Spirit told him to play a gospel tune by CeCe Winans and then the crowd got on the dance floor and stayed. By the time the headlining DJ got to the club, it was three gospel songs later and the crowd was still dancing. It was then that particular DJ heard his music and kicked him out of the DJ Booth saying now I have to get my crowd back. After Quincey was walking out of the club, that is when the Lord spoke to him saying, “ Did you see what happened in there? I now want you to play for me!†That is when On Q Productions And Consulting was birthed. On November 1, 2005, Quincey decided to heed the call of God on his life and walked away from a five-year stint at the House of Peace Christian Book Center to develop On Q Productions And Consulting on a full time basis. Quincey’s vision was to not only operating in the capacity of a Christian DJ, but as a consultant of the gospel music industry. Quincey adds, “My heart is for the independent gospel artist. I really want to see independent gospel artist with good quality projects that are retail ready and radio friendly. I want the independent artist to be exposed the best way possible.â€Quincey is a member of the New Life Covenant Oakwood Church where John F. Hannah is the Senior Pastor. Quincey is an Active member of the Chicago Area Gospel Announcers Guild of the GMWA.Quincey was one of the former Inspirational Announcers Under Marv Dyson and Marcella Jones on WKKC 89.3 fm (Kennedy- King College) in Chicago as the host of The Friday Morning Praise Jam Gospel Radio Show (2004 - 2006).For Christian DJ Bookings or Christian Artist Consulting Information, E-mail: [email protected]
