About Me
Dutchess comes from an area that has not been known to birth many successful rap artist, especially females. Born and raised in the Washington, D.C. metro area this female phenomenon possesses qualities that will definitely change the status of the game. Everyone who gets a taste of a Dutchess joint is smitten by her lyrical genius and original metaphors. There are women that hold it down in the industry, but Dutchess will be one of the females who has the game on lock.Dutchess was forced to adapt to an unstable lifestyle due to the fact that her mother gave birth to her at the tender age of 14. Growing up, moving over 12 times and attending 9 different schools between elementary and high school, Dutchess still prevailed in her studies and always managed to find time to be involved in the performing arts. From landing lead roles in school plays, singing in chorus, playing the clarinet in the band, to track and field and cheerleading, Dutchess began to develop her love for performing. It wasn't until she was molded into a young lady by her lifes trials and tribulations that she discovered she had a natural ability to express herself through writing music. And the rest is history.Focused in the game, Dutchess shows that she is truly a rookie with veteran skills, as she spits in one of her verses. Dutchess initial exposure in the hip-hop game came from performing shows in the D.C. area and by word of mouth. However, after she was featured on WPGC 95.5 home jams, a local D.C. radio station, and won a WPGC battle of the beats competition, her buzz starting peaking. In late 2002, she attracted the interest of a legendary hip-hop pioneer, LL Cool J. Dutchess signed a production deal with LL Cool J in October 2002. Her buzz more than peaked after appearing on Joe Buddens' "Focused" remix and Wayne Wonders' "No Letting Go" remix, which was featured on the 2003 Reggae Gold compilation and New York's Hot 97 compilation. Dutchess was also featured on Kay Slay's first album on a joint called Seven Deadly Sins. Working closely with LL, Dutchess had now obtained some of the key ingredients needed to land her solo record deal. After being courted by super producers Trackmasters and Ruff Ryders, she linked with a production company called EHM (known to have management relations with Nelly, Amerie, and Mase). With the aided production of EHM and a strong management team, Born 2 Ball Entertainment, Dutchess caught the attention of rapper Shyne's label Gangland Records and Lenny S, A&R at Def Jam and Underworld music affiliate. After weighing several offers, Dutchess chose to ink her name for the second time with UndaWorld Music. The industry is about to be graced with a presence like never before. Dutchess embodies every ounce of regality in her name and she claims heiress to the Queen of Hip-Hop title. Without a doubt, her charismatic, unorthodox, lyrical genius will escort her to great heights with ease. Now it is time for the rest of the world to be introduced to the female rap artist theyve been awaiting.
