The Leaf Label

About Me

While our own website ( theleaflabel.com ) is out of action and we build a replacement, you can find info on all our releases, and now audio samples of virtually everything in the catalogue, at the lovely new PostEverything site.

We'll keep PostEverything and this Myspace page updated with all our news and live dates. You can also find current information on all our artists' live events at Last.fm , from where you can receive live RSS, iCal and Google Calendar feeds from the label or any of the individual artists.

Please support independent labels and artists by buying music direct. You can order Leaf CDs and vinyl direct from PostEverything (even stuff that's long unavailable anywhere else), at great prices, and more of the money from your purchases here will get back to the artists themselves than from any other source. Production times permitting, you should receive new releases a couple of weeks before you'll find them in the shops. You can also buy high quality DRM-free mp3s from PostEverything , and mp3s and lossless FLAC files from our digital partner, state51 , often before the physical albums are available in the shops.

To be added to The Leaf Label's email list, for updates on new releases, live shows and special offers, please click here and send a blank message. Our emails are not nearly as frequent as the would be if we could get round to it, so we won't block up your mailbox.

The Leaf Label was established in late 1994, with the sole intention of releasing music by Graham Sutton of Bark Psychosis. That first Boymerang 12" sold out in a matter of weeks, so it seemed like a good idea to carry on...

In late 1996 label founder Tony Morley took the plunge and left his job at the influential 4AD label, making Leaf a full-time priority. We've had our ups and downs, but in an increasingly squeezed music industry, we're stronger now than we've ever been. In 2004 we opened an office in New York, and the UK office relocated to it's spiritual home in Yorkshire in 2006.

Our passion hasn't really changed in all that time - we want to bring the music we love from the fringes to as many people as possible. Every artist is treated as individual, with careful attention to detail and presentation, and we try not repeat ourselves, so the label keeps evolving. Our outlook has always been very international, and in artists like A Hawk And A Hacksaw, Colleen, Murcof, Asa-Chang & Junray and volcano!, we have brought fascinating and original music to the attention of music lovers worldwide.
