WINNERS of THE GREAT CANADIAN BAND CHALLENGE
On September 28, 2007 The Apollo Effect were crowned winners of Season One’s Great Canadian Band Challenge. Presented by my30seconds.com, over 400 other acts from across Canada competed in the challenge, with the Toronto born, Burlington based The Apollo Effect claiming top prize as voted by the public. The event finished with a stellar performance by The Apollo Effect as well as Faber Drive.
TAE has just completed their first full-length CD titled AntiSocial Disorder. Recorded in Hamilton and produced by the band itself, with some help from Gord Deppe (The Spoons) and Mike Borkosky (Ill Scarlet, The Reason, Low Level Flight) who also mixed the album. The first single The Bomb is currently receiving Heavy rotation on several station across Canada. A video for The Bomb can be seen here below as well as one for The Honeymoon Is Over.
The band features New Brunswick native Brent Lunney (Lead vocals/Guitar), Newfoundlander Gerry Madden (Drums), Nova Scotia’s Shawn Van De Sande (Lead Guitar) Orangeville’s Dennis Hahn (Keyboard/Guitar) and Toronto’s Ben Legge (Bass). TAE presents uniquely designed modern rock with an exciting twist on a variety of genres highlighted by a retro edge with a U.K. vibe.
Recently the band was featured in a sharp new web-based Superhero show called Team Epic. The band makes a guest appearance in Episode One as the house band performing their song Wake. Other songs Away and Your Finest Hour are also featured in the show. The episode can be viewed @ www.teamepic.tv
