Beyond Decay [New Myspace, Song, Pictures]

Busting outta tha ghettos of Orangeville... Beyond Decay is a political fused ska/punk/hardcore/reggae whatever ya wanna call it band. They have released an EP entitled "Buds Not Bombs" which was released March of 07, and is now available for free through them or through We Neva Stop Records, and also a successful Split CD with fellow band Corporation in July of 07. Beyond Decay is showing no signs of slowing down as they are amping up to release their Debut Full Length entitled Dropping The Bomb in Spring/Summer of 2008.
In the Words of Beyond Decay: Our belief is that we live in a world where every persons action has a reaction. Regardless of where you are. We promote self education rather than indoctrination which we see with school systems, and believe in the idea of peace and establishing the idea that we are all human beings and that we all own equal parts of this world. Be it the resources like oil and coal, to necessities such as water and food. Unfortunately a handful of capitalist institutions and collective groups (multi-national corporations) all share the belief that these necessities and these resources should be privately owned, subsidized, and sold to the masses. Which essentially means if you don't have the money or can't accept this way of life then you're shit out of luck.
We believe that patriotism only serves to create an elitist attitude and eliminates tolerance and compassion. Pride is one of the biggest problems we face be it pride of skin colour, religion, or skin colour, it all creates an elitist and intolerant stance. But I do see Gay Pride being a way to cope with being different from the straight majority and eliminating homophobia on a grand level.
Beyond Decay believes that the first route to changing this is through education. Inform the general masses through music, which is probably one of the best ways, and allow them to make their own decisions. We can preach with a megaphone in your face, but that's not what we believe in. Why preach and turn people away when you can make music that someone will be attracted to and let them understand your positions through that? Whether you're a socialist, a communist, an anarchist, a capitalist, we all have to realize this world is in a dire state. Do we allow the war on terror, which has proven ineffective, to proceed? or do we dismantle the military industrial complex from further ruining lives and destroying the earth worldwide?
The answer is up to you, the listener, the person at the show, the person in the rally, we all have a voice and we can all use it. Empowerment comes from confidence and from the understanding that you're not alone in this world. There is always someone who's in the same fight as you. The object of Beyond Decay's music is to provide a voice and an outlet for a part of our society that is fed up with what's going on and what hasn't changed. Change will only happen if we want it to, but we must first change ourselves. Be the change we want to see. As Augustine of Hippo states, "Hope has two beautiful daughters: Anger and Courage. Anger at the way things are, and Courage to change them."
