THE NEW NIGHT OF THE GROOVE LAUNCHES ON WEDNESDAY MAY 30 2007
Toronto’s premier Open Weekly Open Mic in conjunction with Valdrina’s Restaurant & Lounge launches a new season
TORONTO May 16, 2007 – On May 30, 2007 join the Night of the Groove Production Team for the launch of the Night of the Groove’s 5th season inside Valdrina’s Restaurant & Lounge located at 14 Lebovic Ave. (One block west of Warden & Eglinton - Southeast of Canadian Tire - opposite Cineplex Odeon, next to East Side Mario's).
A new element added to the Night of the Groove experience is the “Wednesday Night Valdrina’s Featured Menu†highlighting fine cuisine from around the Caribbean and beyond.
NIGHT OF THE GROOVE HISTORY
Since January 29, 2003, The Night of the Groove (NOTG) Wednesday Night Open Mic has provided a platform for some of the best up and coming entertainers in R&B, Rap, Reggae/Dancehall, Calypso/Soca, Jazz, Alternative, Poetry and Comedy. Past performers have included Glen Lewis, Mark Trinidad, John-Paul, Toya Alexis, Ray Robinson, Andrea Lewis, Andrea Henry Lindo P, Sample King, Trinity Chris and Korrection just to name a few. The event has welcomed others such as Farley Flex, Jamaal Magloire, Barrington Levy, Ben Johnson along with many more.

EVENT NAME: Night of the Groove Open Mic
FREQUENCY: Weekly (Every Wednesday)
LOCATION: Valdrina’s – 14 Lebovic Ave. (One block west of Warden & Eglinton - Southeast of Canadian Tire - opposite Cineplex Odeon, next to East Side Mario's)
MUSIC STARTS @: 8:30 p.m.
SHOWTIME: 10 p.m.
GENERAL ADMISSION: FREE
ARTIST REGISTRATION: 9 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. (1st come 1st serve up to 10 performers)
PERFORMANCE GUIDELINES:
By registering to perform at Night of the Groove (NOTG), you have agreed to perform for a maximum of one (1) piece or three (3) minutes – which ever occurs first. You also agree to NO SWEARING, NO BLATANT DEROGATORY COMMENT AGAINST ANY RACE COLOUR OR CREED, NO DIRECT REFERENCE ABOUT ANY BODY PARTS AND OR ANY SLANG REFERENCE TO SUCH BODY PARTS – creative innuendo are acceptable – NO SLANDERING OF ANYONE. If any one of the above mentioned conditions are violated, YOUR MIC WILL BE TURNED OFF and your performance will cease at that point. You will then remove yourself from the stage without incident. If any NOTG equipment is damaged due to misuse or treatment, you will be charged the cost for its repair and or replacement. – Effective as of June 2003.
