Jerome Miller now known as Focus was born in Toronto on Febuary 17, 1984. Growing up with a huge music influence around him, he began to use music as a way to express himself. Already feeling the vibes from some of his favorite mc’s: LL Cool J, Biggie, 2pac, Big L, Wu Tang, and many others, he started to freestyle rap. Growing up with a rough past in a rough neighbourhood in Scarbrough, Jerome used his talent….rap, to express his story in ways that captivated people around him. In Jerome’s junior year of high school he was given the name by his friends J Rome The Damager because of his openness to rap about anything. However, with all this new found fame, he never really thought much about doing something big with his talent. Nevertheless, his life would unfold in ways he never expected. Jerome aka The Damager started doing some little writing and shortly after some little performing around his high school and community. This helped in building his confidence that would lead him to some bigger opportunities in the future. Over a span of four years, Jerome focused on his music and with that came a different name he chose to describe himself, Focus. During that time at a church gathering Focus met up with a singer Nigel Woodz. They both became good friends and having a common interest in music started dabbing into different industry beats. Both of them having that common flow decided to start performing together. Using Nigel Woodz desktop computer they started doing some small recording and writing that could not be pushed aside. Their sound was hot and attracted attention. In 2001 Focus had an opportunity to perform with Nigel Woodz at Seven Lounge, a downtown Toronto night club. This verified that something had to happen with their music. Their sound was great and their mind set was focused on the love for music, which allowed them to create great music.
A couple of months later Nigel Woodz came to Focus and they both decided to start the group Az Brotherz. It took some time to get everything going in the direction they wanted, however, they would prove it is possible to make things happen. Both Focus and Nigel Woodz had the opportunities to perform for the Toronto Children’s Aid Society, DNA Lounge, Club Paradise and Seven Lounge. This motivated both Focus and Nigel Woodz and gave them the passion to love what they were doing with the music. It's not just the beat and words that create real music, but the way it is expressed to those listening. That is real music that touches the heart of people. One year later Ryan Daley aka Neva Hurd an mc and younger brother Justin Miller a producer linked up with Az Brotherz. Now Focus future goals are all about continuing to create hot music and growing in the industry. Working along side with his younger brother Jmilla and singer Nigel Woods he is looking to develop something that Toronto has been waiting for, for a long time. Focus aka The Nicest is on the scene and is ready to make something happen.
