2008: The Year Of DougO

About Me

I'm a struggling freelance photographer, shooting mostly sports and concerts. You can see some of my work on my website, DougOrama.net . I thought this Myspace page might be a way that I could promote my work a little more, while also pimping some of my favorite bands.

My Interests

Kicking Tom in the nuts. Writing stupid parody songs about the Dallas Cowboys.

I'd like to meet:

Tom...so I can kick him in the nuts for stalking me.

Music:

King's X, Dream Theater, Nickel Creek, DADA, Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies, Brother Cane, Porcupine Tree, Transatlantic, Jellyfish, The Beatles (of course)...the classics...Zep, Thin Lizzy, TRAPEZE, Deep Purple, Steppenwolf, Pink Floyd to name a few. Some newer stuff I've been digging includes Half Zaftig, Silver Seas, American Minor, Super Stack and The Black Summer Crush, if they ever release their debut album. Oh yeah, and THE SHADES, a great local classic rock cover band that features some great friends of mine. I listen to all sorts of other stuff, from melodic to heavy stuff, jazzy to blues, acoustical, electrified and everything in between. But radio music pretty much blows goat.

Movies:

Some of all-time my faves: The Shawshank Redemption, Almost Famous, Kingpin, Animal House, That Thing You Do, Sergeant York, The Razor's Edge (1946), Star Wars, Fight Club, Say Anything, The Odd Couple, Finding Forrester, Breaking Away, A Hard Day's Night, Captains Courageous, The Outlaw Josey Wales, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Planet Of The Apes (the original, not that crappy remake).

Television:

Mythbusters, Flight Of The Conchords, Star Trek (the original series and Enterprise) Andy Griffith, The Beverly Hillbillies (thank God for TVLand!), NFL Football, old movies. Lots of science and nature shows (how did teachers make this stuff so boring in school?). Discovery channel RULES! The Deadliest Catch, Survivorman, Dirty Jobs, American Chopper (yeah, I know...). VH1 Classic Albums is usually pretty kick ass. Like radio, just about everything on network TV blows goat...especially reality shows. But PBS ROCKS on digital TV!

Books:

Living Fossil: The Story Of The Coelacanth, The Beatles Anthology, Victoria's Secret Catalog

Heroes:

Tom Landry, Roger Staubach, Leonardo DaVinci, Frank Frazetta, Vincent Van Gogh, Michaelangelo, Captain James T. Kirk, Everson Walls

Friends list

During a bout of extreme boredom, I've just been killing some time trimming down my friend's list. Since I first got on this here Myspace deal, I've gotten a lot more picky about who I want on my list...

Misfit Toys

Most of my friends know about this quirk I have, that I repeat every year. I have this weird Christmas season ritual that I have to do, sort of like a Groundhog Day kind of thing. I've been doing it a...

Positively Negative

I'm positively sick of being negative. But I'm positively sure that I suck at being positive. Either way, I don't seem to have a choice these days.Lately, it feels like I can do absolutely nothing rig...

No Spring Chicken Anymore

Friday morning I hurt my back while putting on my underwear. I was just putting a leg in and "SPROING!" there it went. I had to walk around all hunkered and limping all weekend, shooting two football ...

The Sprague Identity

I'm watching this old Andy Griffith episode (one of the color ones that kinda suck) on TV Land last night, the one where Aunt Bee lost her valuable antique pin. So they call their insurance agent and...

Barney the Betta RIP

New parody songs

I have a new myspace site up for my sports parody songs (such as The Romo Song) after the two previous versions in the past year were nuked by hack attacks. We have four songs up now, (I write them up...
