"This popular local foursome play swirling hard rock with a sensibility that's evenly swayed by Southern boogie and soaring power pop, although when they merge the genres, it comes out heavier and more corrosive than you might expect-more Hendrix than Collective Soul or Cheap Trick."-Nashville Scene
Big riffs, harmony vocals, and finger-lickin good melodies. This be Big Jim Slade.
Believe it or not, all four members of Big Jim Slade have known each other since before they could sprout a respectable whisker.
Chris and Clay grew up together in Paducah, KY listening to KISS, Cheap Trick, Van Halen, and Rush, among others, while Rob and Jon were 20 minutes down the road in Benton, KY watching SRV's "Live at El Mocambo" practically every night, and playing Hendrix and Zeppelin covers in their basement. Eventually, all four landed in Nashville and birthed Big Jim Slade.
Big Jim Slade has released three albums; Plant Life-1998, Big Jim Slade-2000, and Pacify The Herd-2002. The new album "This is delicious." will be released Spring 2008.
Big Jim Slade has shared bills with acts such as Raging Slab, King's X, Drive-By Truckers, Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise, OkGo, Kevin Kinney, Nonpoint, Impotent Sea Snakes, Bare Jr., Bonepony, Hermano, Taildragger, Supafuzz, Deathray Davies, Centromatic, etc.
Big Jim Slade is also host of a popular Live Band Karaoke show at Mercy Lounge in Nashville, TN, called "Everybody's a Rockstar".
