About Me

Jason DEBO - tag along
..
Jason wrote his first song on the acoustic guitar in April 2001 while attending Bowling Green University in Ohio. In August, 2001 while visiting his older brother, Eric in San Francisco, he recorded a 5 song demo. He fell in love with the west coast, but returned to Ohio and began songwriting and performing live as a solo artist. Jason’s love for adventure led him to Olympia, Washington where he worked on various musical projects, including: Burly Rig, The Grapefruit Session, and DEBO & Geoff. During this time, he studied the Surrealists and he began to incorporate the unconscious into his songwriting.
After leaving Olympia in 2004, Jason traveled to northern France to spend a year teaching English to high school students. This was the second time he had lived abroad; he had spent his last year of high school as an exchange student in Mexico. In France, he joined a band called “Les Gyros” and they quickly became “Jason & Les Gyros”. They recorded a 5 song demo and played various shows in the Picardie area, including a really successful outdoor show at La Fete de la Musique (an annual outdoor music festival held on June 21st in every city in France). Spending time in Paris, Jason found himself being inspired by street performing and by the art of the street-hustler entertainer. He played all over the city: in the Metro, under the arches of the Louvre, in the Tuileries gardens, in front of Centre Georges Pompidou, les Halles. He also earned decent tips from playing in front of cafés in the less touristy areas.
Toward the end of his stay in France, Jason decided to pursue his dream of writing, performing and recording music professionally. He moved to San Francisco to record his debut album with his brother Eric as the producer. Also an experienced musician, Eric worked with Talking House Production’s Pete Krawiec to craft Jason’s debut album “Eucalyptus Fields of Sugar Cane.” The title and cover concept were inspired by the landscape of the volcanic region of Jalisco and Colima Mexico, southwest of Guadalajara.
Jason now lives in LA. His CD is available at Amazon, CDBaby, iTunes & eMusic.

"DEBO’s new CD Eucalyptus Fields of Sugar Cane draws comparisons of a well produced/not drunk Guided By Voices and Versus. For what it’s worth DEBO is pushing the envelope with his down to earth presence and straight forward anthems. In a world of music plagued by bands so quick to jump on the idea of genres and false pretenses, this disc is a safe investment for connoisseurs of the natural progression of pop rock."

"San Francisco-based singer/songwriter Jason DEBO and his band play straightforward, melodic pop rock driven by catchy vocal melodies. Like a lot of 90s indie bands that played pleasant, no-frills rock, their music sounds like it wants to shake your hand and be your friend..."
