i like a lot of movies...and i often forget what it was i was obsessed with - but a little list would include 1940s michael powell movies like a matter of life and death, i know where i'm going and thief of baghdad; lots of fassbinder films esp why does herr r run amok, fear of fear, fear eats the soul; spirited away; grim early 60s british films like a taste of honey and room at the top; the first manchurian candidate; and movies by arnaud despleschein, ken loach DOUGLAS SIRK. and more. LAURENCE HARVEY is a fine actor dont you think? kurt raab's funny albert finney has cool hair. jane wyman is quite nuanced sometimes. BUSTER KEATON is absolutely beautiful brigitte mira is just fantastic david niven, so suave jean pierre leaud. jean gabin and tony leung and peter watkins and ....ZARDOZ

mick fleetwood's autobiography, anything by george eliot except romola and felix holt, escapist 19th century english novels in general, i used to like to read biographies of the beach boys alot because they're the most likeable messed up successful family i can think of (there are plenty of unlikable messed up families.....el presidente of the united states and his clan being the most obvious)
