About Me

I was born in Paris, France in 1944 and made my film debut at the age of fifteen as Antoine Doinel, in one of the French New Wave's definitive films, The 400 Blows.I collaborated with Francois Truffaut for the next twenty years, starring in four other films as Antoine, as well as in films like Two English Girls and Day for Night.I am mainly associated with the French New Wave, and also made films with iconic director Jean-Luc Godard. Masculin/Feminin is perhaps my favorite, as it helped define the "Children of the Sixties" mantra of pop culture.I went on to appear in other films, such as Last Tango in Paris, but my work took a definite dive when Truffaut died in the 1980s. I have since worked sporadically, but none of my work has really matched my films from the 60s.
