Everybody Loves a Banjo (player)

About Me

--"Like a cold northern wind coming down from Canada, T.J.'s banjo playing will give you chills"!
~~"I never heard anyone frail so fast in all my life!"
~~-"He breathes new life into old-time clawhammer banjo picking."
~~"when you see him play live ,try to keep an eye on his right hand;it's like trying to keep up with a hummingbird's wings!"
~~"He plays so fast even lightening is jealous!"
~~Well, that`s what some people have said about my playing.I have spent half my life playing the banjo, and when I am not performing, I work as a Whitewater River Guide.I l love the great outdoors, playing music and travelling.I am fortunate to do what I love & love what I do(as for love,well...).For those who would like to go rafting with yours truly as a guide, contact www.azurrafting.com and request "TURTLE" as your guide to go down the wild Riviere Rouge on the Quebec-Ontario broder.
~~Last year ,with the help of some amazing pickers and singers I recorded my debut CD called `MOUNTAIN CALLING,it`s a collection of original and traditional songs that belongs in every banjo lover`s CD collection (and who in their right mind doesn`t love the happy sound of the banjo- it`s not just for hillbillies anymore!) It's a diverse collection of tunes that will surely get your toes a-tapping and you a-grinnin'
~~ I play with several bands besides doing my song-and-dance solo show, which is reminiscent of the late great John Hartford.. Ì am currently very proud to be a member of a hot country rock band called `DESERT HEAT`(myspacemusic/desertheat); a great bunch of guys that will definately be your next favorite band (I even boldly go where few banjo players go by pluggging my banjo through a wah-wah pedal with these guys- bet ya can`t wait to hear that!) Keep an ear open for them & check them out. I also back up a trio called `YONDER HILL`(myspacemusic/yonderhill); 3 lovely ladies who sing like angels and write country and bluegrass songs that must be heaven sent, they're a joy to listen to (and play with) and will be the next darlings of the bluegrass world. Recently, I just formed "the ROYAL MOUNTAIN RAMBLERS" who do good time music the old time way; we play your favorite rock'n'roll songs but in a old-time/bluegrass stringband style! a foot-stomping, roof-raising, head-banging, yeehaw-yelling hell of a good time!
~~They say that music makes the world go round well banjos provide the happy sound that makes sure you smile while it's spinning! banjo players of the world unite! support your favorite 5-string frailer. Remember to dance when you walk and sing when you talk.
