Alien Sex Fiend may not have been the friendliest band in the world some may say but they were nevertheless severely under-rated as the madness that surrounded them overran the music. Ratfink, drummer and guitarist for the band looks back on the crazy, bloody Hammer horror theatre that was Alien Sex Fiend and telling the story of a rock n roll dream come true. 104 pages photos.Dunk and Ratfink met as actors in Blackpool's interactive horror show - Pasaje Del Terror. They had both played in bands previously.Dunk had played in a number of punk bands such as the Headhunters, Shining Sons and Pink Torpedoes. They talked about forming a band together but nothing came of it at the time. Then, when Rat and guitarist Johnny Volume (a veteran of Blackpool's Stooges-influenced Dogfood) decided to form a band together to play trashy rock and roll, the obvious person to ask to join as vocalist was Dunk. One phone call later and with the addition of bassist Doc Virus, the first line-up of Uncle Fester was established. Rat, Dunk and Johnny's common love for 60s and 70s garage rock and punk - bands like MC5, The Stooges, Heartbreakers, Motorhead, Radio Birdman & Sex Pistols, and 80s/90s outfits like Supersuckers, Rocket From the Crypt, Backyard Babies and Hellacopters - eventually alienated Doc who wasn't really a fan, so long serving Dogfood bassist - Chad Spandosa - was brought in as his replacement in July 2000.
