"Blondes Make the Best Victims?"

Over the course of 8 CDs, 3 videos and numerous UK tours, Leicester’s very own leather-clad, JD-swigging, four-piece rockers The Authentics return with their new 5 track EP “Ton of Bricks”, showcasing brutal guitars and a sound which is fresher, more contemporary and far more weighty than ever before.Having already played 200+ UK gigs, The Authentics launch their new CD with a huge dose of enthusiasm following up their compelling and darkly decadent debut album “Blondes Make the Best Victims?”, in which the band was described as “forever producing soundtracks to late night binge-ups, drug-addled shindigs and crotch-grabbing soirees” (Rock Something, March 2007).
Make no mistake about it, this alluring new leap gives coherence to The Authentics’ progression. The band use the muscle of their past songs to bind with the sophisticated arrangements of their new material. Big choruses are ever-present, but they have also embraced brand new blueprints with succinct yet magnetic lyrics and unexpected time changes; all showered amongst hooks that you’ll be humming along to yourself at bus-stops.

Playing to excitable crowds in full voice, their turbulent rock implosion continues where it left off: with a belter of a new CD taking no prisoners and thundering in with riffage that leaves crowds with ears heavily satisfied and often wiping the sweat (and mascara) out of their eyes. As far as rock group soap operas go, the choruses from “Belly of the Beast” and the EP’s title track, explode with pure excitement and a ravenous appetite which is impossible to ignore. The Authentics are giving the Midlands scene a much needed jolt of addictive punky swagger and have brought their trademark rock ‘n’ roll ethos to summer audiences spanning the Bulldog Bash, Trashstock, Hard Drive and the DNA Festivals, as well as high profile supports slots with Winnebago Deal, The Glitterati and UK Guns ‘n’ Roses.
Other highlights in the past 12 months include the band constantly interacting with their fanbase using Facebook, Myspace and Last FM; as well as supporting charitable causes for Oxjam, Rainbows and the Samaritans, whilst continuing the up-keep of a highly successful blog giving their fans insight into the band’s daily lives.Using their newly formed Street Team, the band also created their own brand of condoms and have now chalked up over 35000 web hits on their official site after extensive gigging at packed venues in Sheffield, Lincoln, Nottingham, Brighton and even London’s famous 12 Bar Club. The Authentics also entered the Top 10 of The Demos Reviewed Top 50 Songs of 2007 for their song “Beat Me (for an apology)” and now with more introspective lyrics and boasting a heavier, brighter sound, have also gained great reviews from UK magazines such as The-Mag, Black Velvet, Pure Rawk, Classic Rock and Trashpit.
Their current CD features artwork by FireHazzard Designs – who has also worked with Ginger and The Wildhearts. The launch will be in association with respected rock fanzine Glitzine.netWith their heavy rock riffs, infectious hooks, and choruses to belt back, the band are bouncing and strutting their stuff creating some huge noise. After the success of the “Going Down South” Tour in September 2007 which coincided with their appearance on a DVD giveaway for Fast Car Magazine, the band have high hopes for their forthcoming offering.
Take note: The Authentics rock. They rock long and above all, they rock hard.
"The Authentics are the Real Deal" BBC Online
"Wildhearts fans will prick up ears when they hear the meaty rawk vocals atop some ripping guitar action. "Popstar/Rockstar" and "Natural Born Thriller" have some killer fretwork and all four songs rip along like a non-stop juggernaut, heading for a party in the Pacific." FOUR HEARTS OUT OF FIVE Black Velvet Fanzine
The Authentics "come dripping in lashings of life affirming chutzpah...Back Down to Earth comes on like an Anglicised Descendentsand they sound like they'd be the icing on the cake of a particularly fun, drunken night out". METAL HAMMER, July 2005
"The Authentics have amassed 11 kick arse rock tracks on Blondes…Easily accessible lyrics, anthemic choruses and toe tapping beats make this album addictive from the opening riffs of “Behind the Mask” through to the last track “Heartbreaker”. The band has plenty to say and the music to back it up”. Glenn Butler, Powerplay Issue 84 Feb 2007
"The Authentics continue their quest to become one of Britain’s greatest party bands, forever producing soundtracks to late night binge-ups, drug-addled shindigs and crotch-grabbing soirees. Slapping “Blondes Make the Best Victims” on the stereo has the same effect as pouring half a dozen bottles of store brand vodka into the communal punch – everything gets a lot more fun and a lot more messy”.Rock Something Magazine
"Blondes Make The Best Victims?” is an eleven track rocking collection of guitar heavy tunes…There’s tonnes of genuine punk rock flair." TRASHPIT - www.trashpit.co.uk ..f" width = 300 alt="Click Here"
"Behind the Mask is a stirring, anthemic opening track in parts Iron Maiden meets Trivium. It's hard rocking, with some wild guitar soloing whilst maintaining a catchy melody. All in all, the guys have produced a top class album.” Highway Zero
"The Authentic..s fifth release "Back Down to Earth" could be a clear hit with a teenage audience given its energetic, upbeat music and influences from the Foo Fighters and Guns n Rosesyou can..t ignore its catchiness and persistence to get stuck in your headOne of those perfect tunes for the summer." The-Mag (www.the-mag.me.uk)
"Sleazy dirty rock 'n' roll anyone? The Authentics could be just what you are looking for. Opening with a crash of the drums and thick chugging guitar followed by a short but sweet guitar solo virtuoso…Great melodic tracks such as Burn What Remains and the ‘do-wops’ of Shot In The Dark are those that help bring the album together with their catchy hooks and excitable choruses… they have a special quality that is quite rare these days”.Optimum Impact
"[The Authentics] have got some brains to back the b*llocks up as influenced on this new album… with some great anthemic choruses and good Thin Lizzy style guitar lines to ensure your interest is kept up. Keep yer eyes on 'em”.Bubblegum Slut [email protected]
