OUTSTANDING EAGERLY ANTICIPATED SOLO ALBUM *****
Colum Regan produces a fine example of what music should be all about. This is what there is a lack of at the moment. This is a heart-felt honest and diverse collection of songs which piece together beautifully to make a great album.
Colum reverts to his roots and heritage in songs like "Don't think about it" and "Letter from Canada", but flavours them with a modern edge that retains a contemporary feel.
Beautiful harmonies are provided by Kerry Sanson, best executed on "Love you Love" an amazing love song. Tracks like "Damage Control" and "Freewheeling" really help mix this album up and provide a harder edge.
If you like Damien Rice, David Grey, Tom McRae, David Kitt, Coldplay, Radiohead, then you will love this.
Favourite tracks : Damage Control, Freewheeling, Love you Love, Ruberboat“SENSES FLY
South Wales boasts many an inspirational musician and it appears the well is anything but dry. Colum picks up where the myriad of singer/songwriters have trodden before to deliver a new perspective via intimate themes allied to intricate harmonies, Your Voice being the prime example and deserving the widest audience possible. Colum also has a way with words and is clearly capable of penning a tune to twist the senses and leave you looking for more. Classy.â€
Musician magazine (Journal of the MU)“At last, Colum Regan has released a full-length album and it was well worth the wait. Go is a wonderfully eclectic mix of styles and genres that shows off the huge songwriting and performing talent of this Cardiff based Corkman. The opener "Bring It On" has a cool soul feel, "Don't Think About It" punches the Led Zeppelin buttons, while "Your Voice" evokes the more contemplative side of this fine craftsman. Colum's voice is as clear and vibrant on this album as it is in his enthralling stage shows and the range of instruments in the arrangements make this a really full-on recordingâ€.
Wexford Song ClubColum Regan’s ‘Message’ delivers a jazzy upbeat gentle groove-laden track that sounds like it would be the perfect come down soundtrack for the late night ‘Beat Generation’ of 1950s New York.
CLUAS
(extract from the review of Southern-Fried II)"His lyrics are insightful and his melodies sweet. Colum's powerful stage presence and sizzling voice, backed up by some of the best musos around make his shows a truly moving live music experience. "
CIRCULAR MUSIC UKWhen I hear the music I think of the colour: yellows and oranges (no reason, just do!)
If they were a sweet: a classic, like Caramac, nice and smooth
Makes me dance the: foot-tap, with a little bit of some swaying and groovin'
Takes me to: a sunset beach party
Would open for: Gomez, John Mayer
In the scope of the universe, these guys get: a solar system and a half!
In other words: Two parts acoustic, one part funk, one part soul, and one part suave, this stuff is fab!
COFFEE SODA ENTERTAINMENT
Colum Regan (Top track: Letting Go) – a man, a guitar and a dreamy voice that when your mum hears it she’ll get fizzy knickers; what more could you want?
SENTRIC MUSIC
Colum Regan should be familiar to Cork music fans through his song “messageâ€, which adorns the Sourthern Fried II Compilation. That track features on his forthcoming album GO, and if you liked that you’ll find similarly mellow and jazzy tracks such as Letter from Canada and Love You Love appealing to you also. But there is more to the man than that. The galloping Damage Control and Freewheeling, which is propelled by a stomping sax-led groove, are more indicative of what Regan is trying to achieve with the album. He succeeds in balancing acoustic melodies with heavier grooves.
