I come for the wuggas... But stay for the jiggy juggas.

About Me

I am an artist who is in perpetual pursuit of knowledge and experiences. I am married (terribly happily), and spend lots of time with the wife. I play guitar mainly, but I've played drums, piano, uke, and even digeridoo on my home recordings. I'm almost always up for playing music and anything new. I mostly play guitar now, mostly 50's/60's instrumental rock. My favorite guitar is currently a modified US Strat. If anyone ever wants to play, just tell me when you'll be in Raleigh. I'm always up for playing.
I believe in duality: I have degrees in design and computer engineering. I currently work as an artist for a local design firm, I do lots of printed materials, sculpture, consulting and illustration. Since I also have a severly technical background, I also admin the UNIX, OSX, and XP networks as well as all tech support across the platforms. My wife thinks I'm teh 1337. She doesn't know why that's funny.
Other things I like are Halloween, Haunted Houses, Walt Disney World, and seeing local music. I also collect toys: new, antique and vintage. I have almost the entire sets of old and new Simpson figures. I've also got complete collections of Haunted Mansion figures, X-Files, Mars Attacks, Pee-Wee's Playhouse, Beetlejuice and Nightmare Before Christmas (old and new). Collections I am working on are anything vampire (Sideshow Toys, Mezco, premiums; etc.), nuns, snowmen, and anything cool Halloween. Of course, all are MIB, MOMC.
I also have a website: hawkinscs.com.
I used MyTheme myspace editor .

My Interests

Disney's Haunted Mansion. Love it. It's so much like my dreams, it's scary.

My wife took me to WDW for the first time when I was 28. We've been back every year since. I'm also interested in guitar, computers, games, girls, art, music, and basically anything fun. Pixar movies, the circus, you know, the average interests of a 31 year old man.

I'd like to meet:

Tom Waits? Louise Brooks? Cindi Lauper? Baby Jesus? Under what conditions? On a crowded street or in a quiet bar? Michael Hedges? Walt or Roy Disney? Brad Byrd? I'm not really sure who I'd like to meet. Buddah? I mean, what if they are a jerk? What if they think you're a dick? I do like to occasionally talk to folks at the flea market. Like the lady with only one arm, who tried to tell me that my old high school was once buried in snow and she was the only EMT who could save the kids.

I'd rather introduce people. If I could, I'd introduce Dave Grohl to my wife. Or introduce Tim McGraw to Jenn. Or "Wild Bill" Guarnere to my brother. Yeah, that'd be better than meeting folks.

Music:

You name it, I probably have it. I like all music as long as it's good. Hank Williams to Mindless Self Indulgence. Goreki to Frank Zappa. Man or Astroman? to Portishead. The Go! Team to (Smog). Heywood Banks to Dismemberment Plan. Really, just about everything as long as it is original and interesting. I could go on... And on...

And I think I will. Some of my favorite bands right now are The Madeira, The Ghastly Ones, The Loners, Soul Coughing, The Cure, The Black Keys, Roy Orbison, Dexter Romweber, Tom Waits, Ween, Booker T & the MG's, Pixies, QOTSA, The Centurians, The Ventures, The Cheiftains, Crotchduster, Voodou, Crust, Dick Dale, John 5, Mos Def, David Lynch's soundtrack stuff, Morphine, Los Lobos, Throbbing Gristle, Me First & the Gimme Gimmes, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum of Natural History, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, Los Straitjackets, Ramones, Sam Cooke, and SCotS to name a few more. But let's not forget Sly & the family Stone, Goldfrappe, Godspeed You Black Emporer!, The Challengers, and The Shadows. I recently discovered The Mono-Men and I can't get enough. I'm tellin' yous guys, I like almost all music.

Movies:

Brazil, Fight Club, THEM!, Nightmare Before Christmas, The Indiana Jones Trilogy, The Incredibles, Big Lebowski, Airplane, Lord of the Rings Trilogy, 5th Element, HERO, just so many...

Television:

I generally like shows like "World's Blankiest Blanks."Ovation channel, How It's Made, Mythbusters, LOST, Handmade Music, Survivorman, America's Funniest Home Videos, Futurama, Family Guy, Simpsons, and the non-lame stuff on [adult swim]. Other than that, I do not watch TV.

Books:

*sobbing* I... never... learned how to read.

Back when I did read, before schooling crushed all desire to, I liked Flannery O'Connor the most.

Heroes:

Li'l Brudder... He's got the heart of a champion.

Several friends, a low paying job, a bed in a robot's closet. I envy no man!
