When in doubt, I whip it out - I got me a Rock n' Roll band - it's a free-for-all!

About Me

I'm a musician. A drummer, no less. No, you don't have to speak slowly.I played drums in a really great band in 1996 called "Imperial Drag" that self-destructed during the making of our second album. The year we were on tour was the most amazing experience of my life. I'm really hoping my new band, Fantastic Black, will do the same. Tour, not self-destruct.
What I love: My kinfolk. My beautiful Nieces. My Aminals. My wacky friends. My digital camera. My drumset. Music. Movies. Cheese. Garlic. Good, ice-cold beer and the buzz after two or three. Clear, hot, summer days. Warm summer nights. Sleeping outside. Riding my bike through Balboa Park in the evening. Hiking. Mexican, Italian, Indian, Thai foods. Playing drums really hard. Playing music with really good musicians. Flying (not commercially, though). Disneyland. The Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion rides. Japan. Japanese people. Ecstasy (the feeling AND the drug). BJ’s. Talking. Listening. My Dog’s bark. My kitty’s meows. The smell of a bar-be-que in the summer and a wood-burning fireplace in the winter. Science Fiction & Monster movies. Computers. Swimming in swimming pools.
Love people who are: funny, smart, witty, interesting, musically aware and hip, open-minded and ready to try or experience anything, no matter what their age, creative, kind-hearted & generous, Silly, not afraid or embarrassed or too cool to be in touch with their inner-dork, youthful without being childish, in touch with their emotions, able to find good qualities in others, slightly eccentric, talking more than I am and who are always willing to push themselves farther than they think they can.
What I hate: Cold, cloudy weather in the summertime. Traffic. Car alarms. Spinning 22’s. Dumb-ass, Spring-break, girls-gone-wild chicks with nice bodies & shit-for-brains. Fish. Yuppies. Hippies. San Francisco snobs. Liberal psychos. Republican monsters. Computers. Being cold. People who say, “It’s good enough”. Musicians who play and don’t listen to anyone but themselves and how shredding they are. Not having money.
Hate people who are: selfish, self-centered, judgmental, small-minded, boring, uninteresting, inconsiderate, provincial, ignorant, myopic (if you don’t know, I don’t like you), “grown-up”, cruel, passive/aggressive (!), wishy-washy, non-committal, too dumb to know bad music from good music, snobs, know-it-alls, story-toppers, rude, self-righteous, emotional cripples, hipper-than-thou, trendy, status-seeking label whores, slaves to their cell phones, hypocrites, arrogant, prone to chewing with their mouths open and smacking their food, unaware of their surroundings (and that there are other people in the world besides them) and lazy.A silly video I made with a band I used to be in, The Fizzy Bangers.Random IckyismsPeople call me "Icky" because when I was very young, my brother couldn't say "Eric", so he called me "Icky". I was in two bands with two Erics, so I just used that nickname to make things less confusing. I'm not trying to be like "Izzy" or any shit like that. Many people only know me by that name.Yeah, I like Disneyland. A lot. I know it's kinda gay, but I don't care. If you like Disneyland a lot, maybe we can be friends. If you like Magic Mountain more, Maybe not.I never really fit into any one group, which is kinda cool and kinda annoying.I'm generous to a fault. I'll help you move, paint your house, pick you up from the Airport - just buy me lunch and we're cool.I'm masculine in certain ways but also in touch with my "feminine side", which means I can use power-tools, build a bookshelf, work on my car and also cook and arrange flowers. I guess you could call me a "renaissance man". I'd prefer it if you didn't, though. If you're kind and loyal to me, I'll do anything for you. Anything. If not - you don't exist.I fucking hated the Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Hated it. I love Pirates, love the ride - hated the movie. Fuck that movie.I love writing because I can express my thoughts - which are usually cramming their way out of my mouth like people trying to get out of a burning building - in a concise, focused and articulate manner.I'm a lover, not a fighter, except if you cross me, in which case I'll hunt you down & kill you and drink your blood in the moonlight."Scratch a true cynic and you find a disappointed Romantic; a little boy who has convinced himself that because everything isn't wonderful, everything must be terrible".

My Interests

(In no particular order): Music, Art, Drumming, Fluids, Hiking, German Beers, Toys, Sculpting, Building shit, Film, Comedians, Swimming, Rocking furiously, Vigilanteism, Onanism, Model making, Sun Worshipping, Guerilla carpentry, Flying, arguing, friction, MDMA, Biking, Pontificating, Haunted Mansion & The Pirates of the Caribbean paraphernalia, Pirate history & lore, WWII History, The Space Race (NASA/Moon landings), Disneyland and Disney History, Cooking and Mortality.

I'd like to meet:

Intelligent, enlightened people who have good taste in music, TV and films...Pop-culture junkies...Educated people who can articulate a sentence and use punctuation and good grammar... People who aren't addicted to their Sidekicks and I-Phones and actually talk to people, not text them...people who are of strong stock, have integrity and are friends in for the long haul...people who have a thick skin and aren't afraid of a little criticism...people who'll accept a favor from a person who wants to help them 'cause it makes him feel good...people who don't mind talking a lot - and listening a lot...stand-up people who tell me when I'm fucking up and won't shy away or freak out when I return the favor...people that are world-travelled and cultured and know there's an entire world beyond the cushy confines of their own block...people with passion and drive and creativity and who want something better out of life and aren't afraid to take a risk to get it, not just space-taker-uppers...People who are understanding and compassionate and put themselves before others...people who are tough and yet gentle, strong and yet kind, firm and yet open-minded, cynical and yet positive, ambitious and yet warm, sane and yet spontaneous, self-critical and yet confident.Painting by D.W.
