FANTASTIC BLACK

Fantastic Black is the newest solo effort to come from ERIC SKODIS, drummer of Work/Sony artists IMPERIAL DRAG. Since their untimely demise in 1997, Eric has worked with a number of artists and Musicians in The Los Angeles area, recording, performing and touring. This new endeavor highlights different facets of Eric's musical talent in his songwriting, arranging and producing abilities. Teamed with co-conspirator, friend and Actor CHRIS NELSON (Kill Bill Vol. 2, CSI Las Vegas, The Tripper), the two decided upon meeting each other in 2003 to make music that would capture the spirit of the music of their legendary Rock idols. Influenced by many popular 70's Hard Rock & 80's New Wave giants - as well as many contemporary artists - they both embarked on a path to create music that would bring back the unabashed joyousness and abandon that music brought to them as kids, and was sorely missed in these self-aware, uber-ironic times.Armed with a promising repertoire penned by Skodis, the first batch of songs (written in the Summer of 2004) created what would become the sound that would define Fantastic Black. Joined by Guitarists Aaron Tap and Wes Styles, the band's current line-up was solidified in the Fall of 2006 after a year-long search for the right blend of musicians who could deliver the double-guitared assault needed to execute the massive sound Eric heard in his head (not to mention the ability to sing the soaring, four-part harmonies). The result was a blend of ultra-heavy, wall-of-guitar riffs, catchy melodies, and epic harmony vocals over a bed of rock-solid Drums & Bass. Just as their idols had done for them, Fantastic Black's mission is to give back people the joy of rock without embarrassment, without cheeky irony. What you'll get is Heavy & Beautiful. Brutal & sublime. Monolithic and Diaphanous. Insane & inspired.
