ZERO DOWN vs. JUDAS PRIEST???
(see YouTube online challenge below)
Formed in 2002, ZERO DOWN consists of five veteran musicians from the Seattle metal/punk rock scene that cast iron 70’s Arena Rock and 80’s NWOBM guitar riffs with hardcore punk intensity. ZERO DOWN has shared the stage with a variety of national acts including The Accused, The Supersuckers, L.A. Guns, Michael Schenker Group, George Lynch, Thor, Prong and many more. Their new CD, “Old Time Revival†was recorded at Jupiter Studios with Martin Feveyear who has worked with QOTSA, Screaming Trees, and Presidents of the U.S. Distributed world-wide by Perris Records, this is what the world has to say….
Very exciting band out of Seattle. A little Queens of the Stone Age, a little
hardcore, but with the metal riffs of Clutch. Extremely catchy, highly pro, ten
track, 33 minute digi-pack. Zero Down should be signed now! Not just because they're
good, but because they could sell a lot of records!

Snake-handling sleaze rockers
alla vintage THIN LIZZY precision to visceral velocity, hell-bound brutality and
pile driving passion. Highly recommended!!! 8 out of 10"

This relatively new Seattle band certainly sound like grizzled veterans on
this debut CD, boasting ten fiery, old school heavy metal anthems delivered
with a hardcore energy and a punk rock attitude. Equal parts Supersuckers, Motörhead
and AC/DC, with tantalising hints of AFI, ...

Charismatic, energetic, lightning bolt in a bottle. ZERO DOWN have released
a scorching new album of raw power, raw intensity and raw talent. If you have
remotely enjoyed songs from the likes of AC/DC, Motorhead, Thin Lizzy, KISS,
The Accused, Judas Priest, or even Iron Maiden, then please, I beg of you, check
these ROCK GODS out. This is one for the ages boys and girls. This spells C-L-A-S-S-I-C!!!

So who should buy this thing? Anyone that wants an energy fueled good time.
If you like musicians that take themselves way too serious, then avoid this
band. Sure they are accomplished musicians. Sure they play their instruments
well, but they have all been around enough that they have nothing to prove other
than being able to have a good time. The lyrics are pretty tongue in cheek and
just add to that fun vibe the band has. I think with the right label this band
could even have a few hit singles. They have a sound that could get respect
from us old farts, but attract some of the younger kids at the same time. This
band has tons of potential and if some label doesn't sign them and make them
huge it is another amazing band lost under piles of crap. There are lesser bands
that are being hyped way too much.

Well, the Seattle boys in Zero Down have done it again, like no one else has,
broke down the walls. They have done this by fusing elements of old-school metal,
punk rock, and hard rock like no other, traveling through your stereo like a
punch in the face, that feels pretty damn good. With the opening track, "In
The Name Of Satan We Rock", they keep it no holds barred and as punchy
as we know old school metal jams to be. The abrasiveness is definitely here,
and the album doesn't slow down from the first song one bit, so it has a very
solid flow from start to finish. That's right, no soppy ballads (that have been
know to put albums in the dumpster), no bullshit, just pure fucking rock n'
roll. Another huge highlight of the album is the guitar solos, which carries
out true metal glory all the way especially in songs such as the opening track,
Old time revival, and most notably Rock N' Roll Kidz and pretty much every other
song as well, which sounds more metal than anything else I have ever heard.
So trust me on this one, you will feel no regret whatsoever after buying this.
Because when this album closes off with Rock N' Roll Kidz, you will definitely
be ready to start over with track one again. Put it in your car stereo or whatever
on your way to work, because this has to be the album of the year, at least
pretty damn close.

Simply put, this album is a fucking blast to listen to! It’s a half-hour rock ride that does not let up until it’s done. There isn’t anything new here, but when the music is played with this much fire and conviction, you just have to jump on board. These guys should be huge!... 4/5

To be honest, I can’t remember when I listened to a disc with such a musically executed purpose. It’s only sin is that it’s only 33 minutes long and this listener is wanting more! ... 9/10
