Life without Elvis

About Me

..LWE music consists of a combination of styles that emanated out of the sound of the original rockers from the 50s; notably Carl Perkins, Eddie Cochran, and Gene Vincent to name a few. While drawing inspiration from the good-time early rockers, the music of Life without Elvis steers in various directions from this important historical time period. Various elements have been combined to form the LWE signature sound. Listen closely and influences from the Ventures , Reverend Horton Heat and the Stray Cats can be found. The sole intention is to involve the audience at all costs utilizing a retro-rock driven guitar, drum, and vocal ambiance. Just when you thought you had LWE classified in a genre, then it happens: a punked-up Folsom Prison Blues by Cash or an electrified Kawlija by Hank Williams. Better think again. The show is not over. There is more to come.

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Joel: Guitar, Vocals
As a founding member and guitar player of Dead Eye Dick (New Orleans, LA) in the 90s, Joel has just about done it all. From singing and playing bass for the college rock favorite Zeno & the Stoics (Mobile, Al) to entertaining many a drunken students at the University of North Texas while playing guitar with The Meercats (Denton, TX), this guy has been around the block- and then some.

Rocker: Drummer; Life without Elvis. Egg Yolk Jubilee

Counselor: Bass
The perfect accompaniment to Rockers sonic booms, The Counselor provides the important final piece to this musical puzzle: a sweeping thunder with the purpose of establishing a foot stomping beat. A relative newcomer on the scene, The Counselor comes from a musically talented family with various influences. His energy and style provide a presence onstage reminiscent to the early thumping bass masters of the glory days of rock n roll.
Influences: Rock and Roll, Surf, Old Country, Punk and everything in between. Mainly all of the music pioneers going against the grain playing their own style of music, not caring about what everyone else sounds like.
Sounds Like: Life without Elvis and whoever you think we sound like.
Type of Label: Unsigned
