Mo Fo & Bro

About Me

Mo Fo & Bro is the bastard offspring of a fairly well-known (at the time) Seattle band, Widow. Widow shared the same management team as Heart, another Seattle band who by then (1985) had done pretty damn well. Widow was also making a splash, having been signed to CBS Records, and was enjoying nationwide airplay and regular rotation on MTV with their "Bitch" video. Widow also performed in concert with Bryan Adams, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and INXS. Not too fucking shabby. But in a time when Michael Jackson and Madonna were selling in the tens of millions of albums, Widow's sales numbers of 90,000 wasn't cuttin' it at all.Meanwhile, as Widow was trying to find its way, our heroes (Geoff - drums, Jay - bass & vocals, and Karl - guitar) were craving a pure rock and roll experience that was eluding the Widow camp entirely. They snuck off to a friend's basement and started rocking out to old songs by James Brown, Robin Trower, The Beatles, Rory Gallagher, ZZ Top and others. It was exactly what the doctor ordered. What started off as a joke ended up becoming the band name, and before long the trio would record their own album together (the now out-of-print and very rare "I Feel Good") and perform live in many of Seattle's legendary music venues with a variety of artists such as The Romantics, Robin Trower, The Guess Who, Bachman Turner Overdrive, Pat Travers, and many others.Since their heyday in the 1980's, Mo Fo have performed perhaps two or three times, most recently at The L.A.B. for the second show of their highly anticipated 2008 Comeback Tour. Much time has passed, hair has turned gray and started to thin, but the boys are sounding as good as ever.
